I was trying to find out what happened to Knapp Monarch. I know Hoover bought them in 1969, I have seen items branded with both names. From a few websites I was reading Hoover sold their small appliance division (which I assume was Knapp Monarch) in 1977. But to whom did they sell it to? Was that the end of the name? I have also seen Hoover/KM appliances branded Nesco.

Didn't they also align with Nesco in the early 60s? I am sure I've seen ads for Knapp-Monarch/Nesco small appliances.

Still hoping to find one of their self-lowering toasters one day!

Laundress is right...

Nesco was bought by K-M in 1960 which was bought by Hoover in 1969. All of Hoovers small appliances were NOT made by K-M though. Rival made a number of their blenders and can openers and Presto made some of the percolators too. Of course we all know Blackstone made the Hoover full sized automatic washers and dryers. One question I have is who made Hoover's poprtable dryer? It sure looks like a Maytag Porta-Dryer to me, I mean it even has the lint screen in the rear of the drum just like the Porta-Dryer....PATRICK COFFEY
