Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

My Dyson

My Dyson vacuum cleaner does everything that it was advertised to do, as long as it is disassembled twice a year and thoroughly cleaned. I would buy another one before I would get another Kenmore!

?????

This is another thing that I don't understand what the big deal is,heavy overpriced and exceedingly awkward, why buy something as heavy as a kirby when you can get a kirbythat will outclean and outlast 3 Dysons, whatever he makes will probably be a monstrosity.

His designs are innovative, and I like his 2 drum FL washer that was launched in the UK, but his products are just too stickin expensive, and unreliable. Why spend $600 on a vacuum cleaner when you can spend $100 on a good shop vac. The suction issue I can live with.

To be fair,

nothing I have ever used comes close to the Dyson for removing cat and dog hair from a very hard to clean nylon carpet quickly.

It's just, when I look how well my 1950's Kirby works (and it cleans just as well, just takes one or two swipes more) and look at how often the Dyson breaks, chokes, breaks, has another recall, breaks, the 'once every 6 months' filter needs cleaning every week...

No, sorry. They have great ideas, but it is perfectly obvious that at some point in the production process, the vacuums are run through a specialist in turning shinola into, well, something else. Squeezing every drop of quality out and making them as cheaply built as possible. They are then sold at very high prices.

Dyson deserves a special place in the hearts of everyone who likes vacuums for his designs. If his quality matched his prices, we'd be speaking of them in the same breath as Miele and Vorwerk.

Not K-Mart Blue Light Specials.

none of their hair is being blown

Good observation there Pete! Gives the impression one has to stand directly in front of it to get the effect.

In contrast, my vintage Emerson on low speed can sit way across the room and still keep me cool.

Dyson

I am with you Ron,
Mr. Dyson certainly deserves accolades for innovative ideas, but I am sorry I just would not pay such high prices for a vacuum cleaner, actually we just bought a new vacuum last week a really good working Hoover Aura barrel, admittedly it cost more than what I really wanted to spend($369.00.), at Godfreys, but it is a really well built unit with solid metal pipes and a very flexible hose and most importantly plenty of suction.
This unit also comes with a plug for an electric powerhead if I want to get one later on.
It is a bagged model which I preferred over bagless, I hated cleaning the filters on the Nilfisk all the time and it only lasted 18 months, however I am not too upset, it was a raffle prize I won.

What a baffling comment!

They call the diagram a 'bullsh*t artist rendering', and yet they don't cite any inaccuracy? Where's the 'bullsh*t'?

Reads 99% positive to me - just one (serious) criticism, about the price.

Did I miss something?

Picking nits but a legit question

In one of those videos it makes a point of showing the irksome task of cleaning the 3 blades on a regular fan whilst you only have to wipe around the loop of the Dyson,, but....what about that inner fan and channels?
Let's say after hours and days per month over a course of time that fan in the base and all the inside channeling is going to get dusty/dirt laden depending on its running environment so how do you clean it? With a regular oscilating desk fan like we're all familiar with, the wire cage unclips and you can wipe of the 3 blades with some spray cleaner or just water/wipe, rinse off the wire cage etc and it's clean again.
As an example I picked up a 16 inch desk fan this past summer at a thrift shop and gave it to my sister.. The next day she called to say get it out because it stank of cigarette smoke so I brought it home and took the blades and cage off and washed them down in the sink and used cleaner on the casing,, no more cigarette stink and problem solved... Now if this fan was used in a room with smokers that smell is going to permeate the innards and smell up the room everytime you turn it on

Now, Now

Pete...you are behaving just like those annoying people who like to point out that apple's customer support for iPods, OSs, anything older than two years, is zilch.

You are supposed to stare in awe and buy, genuflecting whilst doing so to the grand alter of almighty design.

That it's technically going to be a disaster in the shortest time is irrelevant. It's all about what's skin deep, not what's below it that counts.

Still, it is a cool idea... I just always cringe when I see printed circuit boards in an area where they'll get covered with sucked in dirt...their shorting out from that is pre-programmed.

Sharper Image-esque

Oh I'm not saying I wouldn't want one as I certainly wouldn't mind having one, eventually when they cost under $40 perhaps or I find one in a couple of years at the Sally Ann for $3.

hm.... I'd buy one, but only if...

(scratching my head here about this glitzy Barbie stargate...)

ok: If I put it on a low table and stand in front of it crotch level (suction side, of course) ---> I wonder if it can also increase or amplify my best "..." by 15 times.
Awh, I mean, will I have 15 x as much / as long as...

But then again, what will happen if it pulls in the jewels of other guys in the room, and .... how about that pulling and sucking and then again, all that blowing AT ALL?

Nope, I am getting out of control, this is too much Frankenviagra...
:-)))))

(don't hit me now!) *ducking & running*

"I just always cringe when I see printed circuit boards in an area where they'll get covered with sucked in dirt"

Full agreement there! I cringe seeing circuit boards in just about anything anymore.

The motor appears to be several sizes too small for long term operation.

Is that foam covering over the motor/circuts boards an air filter? If so, the unit will need to be periodically disassembled on order to clean that.

Far too gimmicky for me, but probably heaven for the hardcore techie in a very small office/cubical.
