Nice Find!

Back in the early '80s, I lived in an apartment complex that had been built about seventeen or eighteen years before. All appliances were Frigidaire of that vintage, and every apartment had that exact dishwasher in turquoise or yellow.

None of them were in that condition any more, though!

P.S.:

As I remember, those dishwashers did a perfectly fine job. Of course, back then, we were grateful to have one at all - we hadn't gotten to the point of being superdiva picky about everything, the way many people are today.

I have to make comprimises with my collections too. The biggest concession I made was I gave up our guest bedroom (we don't have overnight guests much anyway) so hubby could have a "man cave". Its a total disaster zone now. So, when he gives me too much trouble about another mixer finding its way home, I ask him if he would like any help cleaning up the man cave Then I mumble something about "valances" and "shabby chic", and he caves.

Got help me if he ever gets it organized!

I find that mine washes beautifully, but oddly, mashed potatoes thwart that thing every time. So long as I get rid of the starch-laden items, everything works out fine...

So pretty--and I love the shiny metal filter!

you have there! and from 1962, my favorite year of the 60's!

i have never seen a wash system like that before, thought there was some type of mini spray on the bottom as well as that central tube but i guess not. it's just a filter in the middle of the bottom?

would love to see more pics, close-ups of that center tube and bottom filter (i'm ready for my close-up mr turquoisedude)

that motor looks just like the motor on my 2 60's model frigidaires and it is still available, at least i know where a couple are. i might know someone who has pump parts for you if interested.

all in all a beautiful peice of early 60's history! and one beautiful dishwasher! amazing we can still find these machines! and it's 47 years old and looks like new!

Pete, please me know more about the pump parts! Are they also at Modern Appliance Parts? I have to call them - they may be able to help with the ongoing GE dryer thermostat saga and the Westy parts!

Supersuds: There is a very brief 'prewash' called a 'purge', followed by the main wash and three rinses. I can't remember off-hand the total water usage, but it seemed really low!

Yah, it could be called AWANON. LOL. That is a fantastic find, there doesn't seem to be a lot of GMFR dishwashers that made it this long. I can't wait to hear about the performance of your machine and Pete's GMFR. Even if they wash like sh**, who cares? It is still a part of appliance history and it's gorgeous! matt

larry at modern parts

showed me a pump and motor he has for that style dishwasher. at least he said it was for the oldest frigidaires that used a center tube instead of a spray arm on the bottom.

he has a ton of stuff and i did pick up a pump seal for my frigidaire, he has motors brand new too, still in orig box! if you need parts he is the man!

i prob won't start rebuilding my frigidaire slant top for a couple weeks here, want to get the g.e. mobile running first and the sears roto rack and the kelvinator. got parts for all of them yesterday.

i picked up a frigidaire service manual

while at modern parts house in parma. it talked about your dishwasher. it says the central tube will rotate at 600 rpm!
thats fast!
it says your motor is 1/6 hp and i thought it would be bigger having looked at a pump and motor for your machine while at modern parts. this manual doesn't really give a lot of detail but i bought it for the notalgia of it and if i find anything else on your machine i will let you know.

and if anyone would have parts he would! like said i know he has a pump and motor and attached drain valve.

I am already planning a load of dishes or two to be washed in the new Frigidaire this weekend. Close-up pictures will be taken! Hubby has apparantly made plans to work in the gardens all weekend...
