Hello everyone,
I have seen the expression "Bob Load" in several threads. Count me ignorant but I have never seen it explained. This may not be the right forum but I did not see a Forum that fit the question.
So what is a "Bob Load" and the history or is this an inside joke of some kind.
Thanks, Tommy (Losangeles)

Tommy, a "Bob Load" is full-beyond-capacity load of dishes, utensils, glasses, cups, etc. in a (preferably) vintage dishwasher to demonstrate what the machine can hold. I think that term has been around here a while and I believe it was coined by our very own appnut (Bob), but that may not be fully accurate.

Here's a "Bob Load" in my 56 GE dishwasher in Ogden as an example...

And also

to me it's proof of just how fantastic various models can wash EVERYTHING! When the Kitchenaid is already darn full but you run around the house and find 3 more coffee mugs and you see that one more skillet on the stove and you look in the fridge and find at least one bowl of 2 week old crap, and you just gotta fit everything in and run it and be done with dishes! And there's always 2 travel mugs in the car, remember them. My Kitchenaids and 2 different early 80's GE and Hotpoints have always come through! Put it on Ultra or Pots Pans cycle, let it do its job on a Bob load!

I’ve used the term BobLoad for Laundry, as well. Same basic theory: Pushing load-size a little past what would normally be considered maximum capacity. It’s just not as easy to show-and-tell without making a video.

BOBLOADING CERTIFICATION

I have always been under the impression that in order for your DW to be "BOBLOADED" you have to show before and after pics of the machine in question loaded to the gills. And Appnut would declare if the load was certifiable once he saw the end results.

BobLoad™ is oriented around dishwashers, maxing-out the loading capacity, and getting the items properly clean* ... thus before and after pics are required for qualification.

The whole thing is a recognition of Appnut's (Bob) dishwasher loading skills.

*A tiny bit of residue fleck on a particularly challenging item may be considered acceptable for a dishwasher load.

"Bob Load"

Thank you to everyone who answered the question and provided pics "What is a Bob Load." After looking all the pics of Bob Loads I think I have been Bob Loading all along. When the children were still at home I only ran the dishwasher only after everything was done and we were ready for bed. I can't stand having one or two items still left in the sink. I will shuffle and re-arrange till everything is loaded. I used the Pots-n-Pans cycle on my old whirlpool (16 years) with only inlet valve replaced. I have a Whirlpool MOL now and sadly I am embarrassed I bought it. The upper spray arm is forever clogged with the smallest things (tomato seeds)that the filter should have caught. I can't wait to kill it off and get another. Any suggestions??
Thanks again for adding new knowledge to an old brain.
