Hello,

Im new here, I came after reading several posts about STPP. I am interested in using STPP in my laundry and dishwasher. I have fairly hard water (untested but can confirm a lot of mineral deposits) . I am interested in purchasing a bucket of STPP online, But I would like to know what detergents should be my "go to" for mixing. Ultimately I would like to pre-mix as I live with my parents and they cannot be bothered with a change in life-style when it comes to cleaning.

Also as a side note. In the warmer weather I usually hand wash my car every weekend. I usually have to dry the car very quickly due to water spots, have been told that the reason I get water spots is because of the hard water. I am away we could invest in a water softener but I would like to experiment with STPP first. Could STPP be mixed with car wash soap? and if so how much? on that note, Is there a powder car wash soap? Im assuming this experiment cannot be pre-mixed before use.

Lastly, I know this has been discussed A LOT on this forum, so please feel free to post links to previous answers as well.

Boardwalk Commercial Laundry Detergent

A friend of mine uses Boardwalk Commercial Detergent, and from what I understand this is basically Washing Soda, Is it effective to mix this Detergent with STPP? If not does anyone know of a "bargain" detergent to mix with STPP?

STPP can be added to any detergent.  Also dishwasher detergents.

I use 1 to 2+ tablespoons for laundry depending on the load size & soil level and amount of water involved, whether an HE washer or deep-fill agitator machine.

I normally use a commercial dishwasher detergent that has phosphates and bleach.  If using a household product with enzymes, 3/4 tsp with 2-1/4 tsp detergent.

I added a bit last time I washed my car.  Can't say how much it helps with rinsing being that the wash water is gone and the rinse spray-off from a hose isn't treated.
