What model is this Maytag

Hello guys On Thursday afternoon, I am going to pick up this Maytag washing machine. What is the the model/serial of this machine? Or do you have any information about this machine.. Thanks.. P.S. The owner is sell this machine very cheap to me.

and is rock solid, if in good condition. Won't find any better top-loader new.

My sister has the same model in xtra large capacity. It has been doing 2 to 3 loads of laundry daily since 1987. NEVER a repair. 21 years strong. You will be very happy with it.

She actually inherited it from her Grandmother and has been using it for nearly 10 years herself. I'll ask her if she still happens to have the manuals and if so, I'll copy 'em for you.

I have the 613 which adds a warm/warm and hot/warm buttons. Very good machine and washes well. The agitator has a set screw and it tends to go up and down during wash. Its a slight movement but its there. I changed it out with a regular PowerFin with a stop ring. Much more solid and the drive shaft spline contacts are more snug to the agitator. Plus the washer runs very quiet. One thing is to make sure that the washer is level. That way the motor carriage can do its thing properly. Plus I would also look at the drive belts and make sure they are not frayed or worn looking. That simple change out makes all the difference in the world performance wise.

This is a good washer...

Is this an orbital tranny or the original Newton long-stroke?

I had an A412 for a while, same features but standard capacity and it was a great machine. I found it behind Lowes and all it needed was a water valve. It was so mint and clean I hated to let it go, but I grabbed an A710 today at a garage sale today that is just as nice. They are great washers, run forever. I posted pics of the A710 in the Deluxe forum even though I think it's pre-1986 and could be here.

This has the long slow stroke. A neighbor who lived behind our house had this model. I ran it through a couple of rinses when I would feed her cats and dogs while she was away. I don't know if the thrill came from running the Tag, or knowing that I really should not have been.

I always loved it when people asked me to take care of their pets!

Not to belabor the point, but I should mention that I was a kid when I did this. I am (much) older now and more respectful of peoples' privacy.

James, you'd be hard-pressed to find a person at this site who hasn't done the same thing. I used to run peoples' washers when I took care of their pets, too.

In fact, I had a neighbor who always left the house open during the day while at work. I ran their washer for kicks on more than one occasion. They had a Coronado with an indexing tub and a 'Partial Fill' button, so you could control exactly when agitation would start.

Except for the infinite water level, your washer's identical to our A510. It's been a great washer. Pulled it off a trade in pile about 10 years ago, put a set of belts on it, and have done NOTHING else to it. Indestructable!

Thanks Frigilux. It's good to know I am not the only one.

The riskiest stunt I ever pulled was operating a display model at Sears when the sales personnel were not looking. This was in 1988. It was fortunate that the store was busy enough that they were occupied with customers, but not so busy that people were always swarming around. I did not put it through a full cycle, I just filled it a little, emptied it, and buzzed out of there.

The only time the salesman saw me was when I first entered the appliance department. He asked if I needed help. I responded with: "Nope, just browsing." It got him off my back.

Got the New Maytag washer Home

Hey Guys, This afternoon I got the Maytag washer home, and I try it out. It works, but the belts need to be replace. I have washed 3 loads of clothes today, the water draining was little poor, on the second load of clothes, got to the rinse cycle, when in a pause and then to the final spin, well, the machine did not drain out it was full of water. I turn the timer back to the rinse and it did drain all the water out. I did hear noises come from the belts a loud scream noise, so I did call up around town, they want $40.00 both belts. So I went on ebay and found the same item for less money both belts in a package for $16.00. Now, I have to wait about less then a week to get the new belts, I will see what happens next. The belts parts numbers are for this Maytag Model A612 is: 211124 is for the pump, and the drive belt is: 211125. I will found out later it that take care of it or not..
