What year is my Maytag E2L

Looking to find out what year the wringer washer I picked up is or the years this style was made.

This is what I do know:
Maytag E2LP Master
Ser # 30947PA
Raised M A Y T A G letters on front.
Patent sticker is Red

This is what I found, I don't know if it's factual:
The patent sticker is 2nd generation
Per a web site I imputed the ser # manufactured in Jan 1958 or Jan 1961.

Probably January 1961

I don't have my decoder handy but Maytag didn't start the raised lettering on the front until late 1959. They kept that until they changed the coloring from red to turquoise in 1966.

A very desireable machine

Congrats on your new Maytag Conventional, I think that's the most desirable wringer made by the company. It's an "E" pattern that was introduced as a top of the line model just before WW2, saw production suspended because of the war effort, then resumed afterwards with small modifications as the "E2". It remained Maytag's TOL until the entire line of wringers was discontinued in the early 80s.

The machine's mechanicals are essentially identical to other Maytag postwar wringers*; the real advantage is in the aluminum tub, inserted into the steel cabinet. This arrangement is similar to a thermos bottle, and helps keep the hot water hot for a longer period of time. This was an important consideration since you usually washed several loads of laundry in the same water.

The pump is also highly desirable, as is the raised lettering. For some reason, company usually applied a water decal with the Maytag name which was an idiotic idea for a washing machine - they may as well have used crayon.

If your machine does not have a 3 prong grounded plug, I'd urge you to install one before use. The early, unpolarized 2 prong plugs of this era are a shock hazzard if there's any leakage of current out of the motor and into the machine frame.

*but check here for compatibility with a donor machine before doing so.

Five months after picking up this washer for free, my version of restoration is completed.
My apologizies to the purest but I had my own vision for the function of an old wringer washer.
Yes, this is the same washer as the first picture in this post.

Two-tone paint job..

Well, Patrick, I must admit that I am a bit of a "purist", however - your two-tone paint job does look good! Hope you're using it for laundry in addition to using it as an ice cooler!
