Whirlpool Heavy Duty (per panel)

Despite the poor photo, the tub is gray (porcelain?)

Model Number
LA7000XSW0

Serial Number
C72107767

According to the serial number, Appliance 411 says it was made in May 1977 or 1987 in Clyde, Ohio

What year was this made?

If series applies, what series model is this, eg Kenmore's 80 Series washers?

What transmission did it use?

Reportedly, it works fine. If I get it, what sort of preventive maintenance should I do on it?

How easy are parts to get for this one?

Thanks!

This washer is a direct drive wonder and built in 1987. It should have the 5 vane Super Surgilator agitator...5 vanes in the bottom and 10 vanes or so in the upper barrel of said agitator. The wash basket should be perforated in a band near the base...when you see it you will know. At some point they did perforate most of the wash basket. This washer was middle upper of the Whirlpool line for the time. It looks like it has Imperial on the panel. If I recall correctly the Mark series was top of the line and then it went Imperial, Supreme and then the rest.

Thanks.

I read another post about Maytag's Newton and orbital transmissions. Which transmission type does this Whirlpool use?

This is all Whirlpool, nothing related to Maytag at all since Maytag was well, Maytag. As I said this washer is direct drive. It has the pump up front, motor behind and the transmission behind the motor at the other end.
