A few months ago, someone posted pics of a new-design (non-Electrolux) GE front load washer. Looked very promising. I've been checking the GE site for it, por nada.

Thanks, Appnut! OK, that explains that. I thought maybe they were pulling an 'Amana' on me! I was all set to order a FL washer from them a few years back and it never arrived; found out they had decided to pull the washer from the market for some reason or other....
I have "new washer fever" and have been very tempted to get the new Frigidaire FL'ers, but I'd like to see the new GE's first. Decided against the new MaySung (too spendy and I'm a little concerned about the future of Maytag). And there's always the Duet to opt for.... No Sears store near me, so the Hettie's are out of the question.

I tried to post the link to this press release, but was not successful. I have, therefore, copied and pasted the press release below. If their suggested price is correct, ($799-$849 for the washer), it looks like a real value in terms of size (3.7) having the internal heater and the sanitary function. Maybe this will set a trend for the premimum front load washers. If this washer is any good, it could really put the pressure on Kenmore/Whirlpool/Maytag to bring down the price of their top-of-the-line front loaders.
It is impressive, their claim that GE has been rated the most reliable in washing machines purchased since 2001. That brings a question to mind, however, has GE sold a front load machine since 2001?
It will be interesting to see where they are having this new machine made. If it is South Korea, quality might not be too bad as they seem to have a proven track record with the front load market.

The new stylinig trend. Look at the new fridgemores from sears, very similiar. I saw somewhere where someone thought they were made by LG, but the fridgemores are still from Elux/Frigidaier.

Tell that to all the Profiles I've scrapped! They have the lowest repair frequency because people junk 'em instead of repairing 'em. Big p.o.s.'s. What a joke!!

Very clever. I hadn't thought of that. That people reported they didn't repair the GE washers as they junked them rather than even trying to fix them!
I know that was what was happening in the mid 90's when they came out with the plastic tub. After it went up in smoke after 1-1/2 years, the repairman told me not to even try fixing it!
In any case, I do hope this new front loader turns out to be decent. Does anyone have a clue as to who is building it for them?

One thing I dont understand.
If repair service reps say that "All I repair are WP" meaning the majority of all machines seen are WP... how can (s)he be sure they are bad when let's say the majority of machines in the US are Whirl-Mores... and let's assume Sears fixes most of the their own.
If more of brand X are sold and 5% need repairs,
and some brand Y are sold and 5% need repairs... which one will the rep see more of? Brand X. So how can (s)he jump to the conclusion and say Brand X is heinous?
They can comment on the engineering and such, but without knowing exactly how many are made.......
Also, If the rep is "Factory certified" and gets business from (or for) only a limited number of brands is he seeing the whole story?
Methinks repair reps' advice should be taken with a grain of salt.

I just spoke to my GE rep at Home Depot,Jennifer. She told me that the new GE front loaders will be available around December 1st.Their (GE) reasoning is that they want to be sure there are plenty available in stock at all the dealerships who will be carrying them.they are in our warehouses but will not be released untill further notice.They don't even come up in the system yet.
