GE Press Release About New FL
I tried to post the link to this press release, but was not successful. I have, therefore, copied and pasted the press release below. If their suggested price is correct, ($799-$849 for the washer), it looks like a real value in terms of size (3.7) having the internal heater and the sanitary function. Maybe this will set a trend for the premimum front load washers. If this washer is any good, it could really put the pressure on Kenmore/Whirlpool/Maytag to bring down the price of their top-of-the-line front loaders.
It is impressive, their claim that GE has been rated the most reliable in washing machines purchased since 2001. That brings a question to mind, however, has GE sold a front load machine since 2001?
It will be interesting to see where they are having this new machine made. If it is South Korea, quality might not be too bad as they seem to have a proven track record with the front load market.
New GE® Front-Load Washer and Dryer Offer Everything the Consumer Needs
LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Consumers looking for great looks, great performance, and great savings need not look any further. GE, known for "America's Most Dependable Washers!," introduces the new GE Front-Load Washer and Dryer.
Big enough to handle 22 towels, the king-sized 3.7* cubic foot stainless washer basket and the spacious 7.0 cubic foot dryer drum make room for family-size loads. Large door openings make loading the washer and dryer a breeze.
Many consumers are choosing to move their washer and dryer to prominent locations within their homes, including the kitchen. This attractive laundry pair makes a handsome addition to any living space, with its easy grip-through handles, ergonomic controls, and LED display. Stylish and durable glass doors and a bright DuraDrum™Â interior make it easy to see inside the washer and dryer.
Installation options include stacking the machines for an integrated look, or consumers may choose under-the-counter, built-in or side-by-side installations. The dryer door is reversible for additional flexibility. Optional 12" high storage drawer pedestals with dividers are available to provide convenience and extra storage space for detergent, dryer sheets and other cleaning supplies.
Protecting Your Investment
GE and GE Profile washers have the lowest repair frequency among leading brands purchased since 2001, according to an independent national survey of consumers who purchased a leading brand of washer from 2001-2004.
The gentle tumble/pause/tumble wash action of the washer and extra low heat selection (125F) on the dryer helps protect valuable delicates like drapes, baby clothes, sequined items and Grandma's quilts. Two electronic moisture sensors and two thermistors help prevent under- or over-drying. Special cycles for activewear, washable woolens, and delicates take the guesswork out of setting the machines. For remembering favorite cycles, some models are also designed with a "custom" feature.
Whites stay white and bright thanks to a new HydroHeater™ internal water heater. The heater increases water temperature to improve wash performance of particularly tough stains and on loads like white cottons. The HydroHeater also boosts the heat during the sanitary cycle to 160F.
The Flow-Thru™ dispenser system releases the detergent, fabric softener, additives and bleach at just the right time so consumers don't have to. The timed dispensers are not only convenient, but provide optimum cleaning as well.
An easy-to-read LED display indicates the current status of the wash or dry cycles. Consumers can also lock the controls by using the child lock out protection feature.
Available December 2005, the GE Front-Load Washer and Dryer will be offered in white and a new color option, granite gray. The estimated retail price range of the GE Front-Load Washer is $799 - $849 and the Dryer is $599 - $649.
