I stopped in a used appliance store yesterday and sitting under two microwaves was an older Speed Queen washer. I assume the 1980's because it has the perforated tub and the control panel looks "very 80's".

I was thinking of possibly adding it to my "collection" but they want $130 for it. Is that a reasonable price? I will stop by again on my way home today and try to get some photos of it.

Thanks!

Price a bit steep

Look to see if it has been there a while. You may offer them $75 for it and see if they take it. Are they offering any type of 10 day warranty?

I agree. This model type was around from about 1983 to 1988 or so. Not as fun to watch as the older solid tubs, but that agitator does move clothes around vigorously.

Have a good one,
James

RevvinKevin, IIRC the solid tubs SQ's were discontinued 81 or 82, i remember going stove shopping, and there was a clearance of the solid tub machines, in fact they had a solid tub and the new perforated tub setting side by side. as we all lament from time to time, wish i would of bought their existing stock of solid tubs, back then i didnt have much discretionary income, Kinda like the way a lot of us have drifted again. :-)

I also would grab it ina heartbeat. I love that model of SQ. Last time I checked used washers around here they were all priced at $150 and that was 6 years ago!!!
