GE AMERICANA DISHWASHERS
Bob the GEs with the cycle dials that could adjust the wash and dry times were a neat idea. I would love to find one again, I saw a few of these years ago in some new housing in Crofton Maryland where the new houses all came with GE appliances. The builder offered an appliance upgrade where all the appliances went to the very TOL GE models. To do the variable dry & wash times they used two infinite switches like those used for the burners on electric ranges. The switches just pulsed the main timer on and off at different rates to delay the basic timing that the main timer provided. Many of thier Pot-scrubber machines worked the same way but they didn't let the customer chose the delay time. Ken the top loading portable DWs all disappeared in the 1970s I think KA was one of the last [ not sure about D&M and don't care ] I remember getting a KA for a customer around 1977 and at that time they told they had to look around for it as it had been discontinued. The KA TL portable used the 17 design motor and pump and when the 18s came out with thier new pump the TLers didn't stay in the line long.
