I have 3 of these things I have a FB-20,FC-10 and a Fc-6 Maytag garbage disposer and the FB20 is different than my other two.The Rubber thing on the center the cushion is all rubber on the fc-10 and the Fc-6 but the HUGE FB-20 there is like cast metal and the under cutters are different also..The Flywheel looks totally different what did Maytag do and which one would grind better?I can't use just any disposer in our house or it will stop up all the time.If I use a Kenmore and put table scrapes down it the sink will back up,but a 1961 Wasteking I can grind up paper towels, wax paper even tea bags and never a problem. Here is a Pic of the Fc-6 this disposer is newer than the other ones the FB-20 is OLD did Maytag go cheap or something??

We had an FC-5 at our other house that was problem free for the 18 years we lived there, and it would handle anything you could put in it.  The FC-10 is likely an even more capable machine, as long as you have the clearance for its larger size.

I don't know anything about batch feed machines.  I presume they are for heavy duty applications.  You could always try the FC-6 and see how it does.  You have the more substantial machines to change it out with if needed, but the FC-6 could very well be up to the job you require of it.

I don't really want to try one and then put the other in.If I sell it I could never list it as new and I just sold a 1984 K-Aid to a lady in Berkly C.A. and it was TOTALY destroyed during the shipping..U.P.S. normaly is very good at not dropping things.I should have insured it so I am sending her a Viking Batch feed that I have sitting around that is very RARE.She paid me 400 bucks for that old Kitchenaid cause she has to have a Batch feed and she has had her 6 month old I.S.E. Evolution cover control break 3 times something about the stoppers not working right.I am so pissed at U.P.S. right now they are at least boxing it up and shipping it express for free.I guess my subject just drifted but these Maytag's are hard to find and $$$ if you do.They just don't make anything like they used to..Look at this Pic of this Hobart K-Aid....I could just cry....That is just one pic its alot worse...

For what it's worth, Maytag stopped making their own disposers years ago, way before they became a WP brand. They are wonderful. I have had my batch feed for 18.5 years. I could not use the ISE because of the depth of the sink and the height of the drain coming out of the wall. When I moved into my first house, it did not have a diposer and let me tell you about missing something I had taken for granted for many years! Getting one was a priority.

I am going with the Fb20 but I am converting it to a continuous feed with a hard drive magnet.I took the thing apart and that flywheel is thick cast steel alloy of some type,I also think the under-cutters are better plus you have a lot of mass rotating to shatter bones and things. The other two rind postioner's are rubber and I am VERY HARD on disposer's I put everything in them. The city is talking to pass a law mandating disposer's because of the trash runs one time a week now and we have racoon's with rabies the whole area does and its getting kinda bad.I caught a rabid one last week in our trap and even knowing it was dying I felt bad killing it,but it's also terrifying seeing them like that.So all food and more goes down the drain here..
