Well in my experience as a domestic appliance engineer I find the average family of four in the UK is doing 10-15 loads per week in a domestic machine. In this modern age we generate so much more laundry than say 20 years ago; for the most part clothes just need freshening as they are seldom worn long enough to get heavily soiled. I would say you probably don't need a commercial grade washer, you could opt for a large capacity 7-8Kg domestic machine. €1900 is a lot for an AWM9000 in the UK you can buy them new for around £600.

I have lived in Munich since 1983. I sold new and used washers in the late 80's, early 90's.
Whirlpool in Germany made a lot of very bad mistakes when they first came on the market.
My one experience with them was very bad.
My former boss - who sells about 30 machines/week in Munich, refuses to sell Whirlpool or Bauknecht.
I have only had good experiences with Miele service. The commercial LGs sold in Germany have a good reputation in the trade, too. Nothing from AEG, Siemens-Bosch-Constructa or the Italian groups will hold up under that load.
I really wish some of the UK members wrote as pleasantly as the Americans, Canadians and folks from Down Under do...

Well, Germans wash in average 3.5 loads a week at 4 persons.
...Yuck!
I change (and my family too) my clothes every day except my jeans.
In next time we´ll get a puppie and that means extra much laundry.
I think a commercial washer is okay in our family, but I think I´ll buy a used Miele commercial.
I don´t like the german domestic-washers with a higher capacity.
No very good in Germany traded brand do produce high-capacity washers.
I don´t like Lg / Samsung / Bosch / Siemens and so on.

Whirlpools are okay, I think.

The repairman said that it´s a high duty washer, is that a special version?

Hi or heavy duty from Whirlpool means they usually have stronger bearings and suspension, thicker drum material etc to take the extra use they get. I think Whirpool heavy duty front loader machines in the UK are designed for 15 loads a week. I guess Miele already have stronger bearings anyway but i'm sure they toughen a few bits up on the commercial versions.

Yes you are correct the AWM9000 has a heavier drum spider, drum bearings and tub suspension. A nursing home local to me has one and until recently it done at least 15 loads daily, it quite literally never stopped. The nursing home purchased a second AWM9000 last month as they really needed a second machine to cope with the volume of laundry; they also have the matching Whirlpool driers and again no problems whatsoever with them. The cousin of the AWM9000 the Whirlpool Duet is in widespread use throughout north America and is generally considered a good machine.
Interestingly the nursing home used a Whirlpool Direct Drive Top Loader for 10 years before they purchased the AWM9000; it still works but is no longer used because of its heavy hot water consumption. The only repairs I carried out on the Top Loader were the Motor coupler and the drain pump which was damaged by piece of wire.

Use this as you all wish....

First of all, I am English, living in Scotland with a Greek!!! I have no patriotism towards England and would be extremely happy for Hoover products to stay in Merthyr rather than be manufactured in Europe. (My friend Deb lives there and trains the local marching band the "Merthyr Concordes!" and the are really GOOD!!!)
First. Hoover products have gone well down in my estimations. My Aunt has always had hoover washers....the last one managed to work for 18 months. My vacuum is a Hoover. I went with it for the reputation after paying 150 quid for it.. and it is quite frankly, just a piece of plastic rubbish.

As a consumer, I would much prefer to be told the truth about a product.

In my lifetime, I have had hotpoint (poor noise and reliability.)Zanussi AEG great machines but very poor service. (Service Force let them down here in Scotland) Indesit, Creda (rubbish from start to finish), Whirlpool?? Bog standard and nothing to write home about. (Great as Phillips and as Phillips Whirlpool in the early 90's) Hoover and Candy? .... Appauling.

Thinking about a Miele Commercial..

Well, now I´m thinking about a Miele Commercial, there are various offers of used Miele commercials on ebay, not very expensive.

For that price I´ll surely buy one.
