Hey guys,

I´m looking for a new washing-machine because the Lavamat78800 is dieing
I already have been talking to a repairman and recommened, I should buy a commercial frontloadwasher, because I´m washing 14 loads for 4 persons per week.
Do they wash and rinse well?
He said they were as good as the comemrcials from Miele, is that right?
Whast is the outer wash-tub made of?
And finnally:
What do they cost in the USA`?

Unless he knows Seamus lol! No get a Miele! A Miele machine is far superior to one of those. Commercial yes, built like a domestic Miele- no. There are far too many cowboy traders in the UK Who like to write off good machines needing brushes and basic parts costing little money for new machines of lesser quality (they often like to sell Candy, Hoover and Hotpoint/Indesit and BOL Gorenje all of which are bottom of the league in reliability and build quality) . Too many people are gullible to this in the UK. These cowboys have a hate towards Miele as they like to cash in on peoples Misery when the new machines go wrong even though they recommended them in the first place. Also the fact he is recommended a machine off ebay says a bit too. He suspects he might be out to see it soon, costing you more money. Save money in the long run and have quality. Immer Besser! Rob, I recommend and Sell Hoover Candy washing machines and the Odd Indesit dryer to my customers. Why? Because the majority of people can't afford more than £250-£300 for a washing machine and a new Miele is out of reach from the budget. I've seen many a Candy machine running 5 times a day. Six in my cousins house day in day out. Doesn't matter a Miele may be a long term investment, families just don't have the cash to spare and they want a machine quick and generally prefer a new one rather than a fix cause something else may go wrong. I'm not sure many of my bottom of the league machines have gone wrong because I only get phone calls from people who've been happy with their machine and have wanted something else. There are cowboys in every trade but don't tar everyone with the same brush or belittle cheaper machines just because you think they are inferior.The No.1 selling washing machine in the UK in recent times was around £189 and made by Indesit. Price rules! Nuff said.

My previous machine, A HOOVER CANDY made washer dryer, went through hell and high waters in just over 5 years and was only replaced due to a dodgy pump fault, which in all fairness would have been an easy repair, but we felt a larger capacity and faster spin were in order.

The Hoover went on EVERYDAY without fail, for a year of its life it was washing everyday for 8-10 people doing anything upto 6-8 loads a day for a full year, NEVER A BREAK DOWN TO BE HAD! The machine in its lifetime had one bearing change at 5 years old and had a new belt too.

I think that is sterling service for a machine that cost £320! Anyone else care to join in with me who agrees that my Hoover Candy appliance was a resilient machine ??!??

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when you post on here I think you should really think through what you post.

You can be biased to certain products and brands but when you post, you post with an attitude that I think not only me but some other members are quite sick of. I by no means want to cause offence to you or to start an argument but, PLEASE think about what you write before you hit that post button.

Steve, any reason why you dont recommend Zanussi machines which are far superior to Hoover/Candy/Indesit (if you do its not clear from previous posts from you. BOL Essentials 1200 is around £220. Again most repair men try to put people off Lux machines. Because they know they wont be out to them soon. I agree Miele may not be to everyones budget but its clear from the rubbish I often hear from repair guys about parts being expensive to replace when the reality is they rarely go wrong in the first place. Local repair guy goes on about how good LG are. Fact is ours might be quiet and the motor seems to be holding up well but the electronics are messed up not to mention they clean and rinse very poorly. Same guy who refused to replace the brushes in our Hoover Quattro and tried to sell us a Hoover 6! I also disagree bout not replacing a new part in case something else goes wrong. That set of £4 cost brushes with an honest £30 labour charge I believe is better for giving the customer a chance to get the cash together for a new machine with honest mention that there is on guarantee the brushes will last, im basing my experience on the fact I replaced them on my old Hotpoint WM12 A year ago and they took a pounding before I came back home. The machine is still going strong now. So in that case my friend has had 12 months to save for that Miele. Nino can you clarify if that whirlpool is the actual one you are interested in 2nd hand or will be buying new? If your buying new, cost for cost they should be comparable to a new Miele. In which case you know which answer id take. Rob

I've thought about trying one of those huge Whirlpools cause they look good and i've heard they perform well, but alas it won't fit through my doorway cause it's too wide a machine. I'd like to hear anyone who's got one though and what they think? Anyone help out.

I was simply stating that the repair guy in question sounded like those I consider cowboys in the UK. Read my orig post first! Im entitled to my opinion and will make it thankyou! All I have had is unreliable appliances over the part 7 years. My parents earn cash the hard way and are entitled to quality. Quality they have clearly not had. So if there are what I consider to be better machines for the same money I will put my thoughts forward. As this thread was about from its creator!

Rob I don't sell Zanussi or Lux machines because I don't like them. I can't sell something I dislike. Secondly The Hoover Candy models I sell are built locally here in Wales and people like that.

whats to dislike in someone elses house? And it definitely must be a local thing, rest of the country would rather have better for their money if they can get it. I certainly would not buy rotten corn cobs from my local farmshop when I could have a fresh can of Green Giant.

Surely made and assembled from Italian kits isnt quite the same thing?- also as you know the Visions are totally Italian , although I can see what you are saying about the local thing.

This on the other hand was MADE in Merthyr.....

I don't sell the Visions or the Grando's only the Uk built ones ie the Smart range. Doesn't really matter where the parts are from, we support local factories where we can and Hoover is very important here in wales.

Well, I was very glad about seeing of those many replies but I still don´t know what to buy.

Should I forget those Whirlpool machines?
Does really nobody of you made some experience with them?
Are they really able to wash such many loads in a restaurant or things like that?

Well, I think I won´t buy some stuff as AEG / Elux / Zanker / Indesit and so on.

How very dare you generalise repair men as being untrustworthy, I for one would never advise anyone to buy an unreliable product.

For your information a Nursing Home in my local area has a Whirlpool AWM9000, it does all the washing for 40 residents and has done 15-20 wash loads every day for the past two years without a single problem. You obviously know nothing about the AWM9000 but then again you're not an engineer so that's hardly surprising. I am getting very tired of all this bashing and condemning of peoples choices, yes you are entitled to your opinion as everyone is but perhaps you should think about how you voice it the future.

Nino if you like the AWM9000 then by all means buy it they are a good sound machine, very quiet and have a huge 78 Litre drum with a 9Kg capacity. Also because of the large drum the laundry has room to move and wash properly so the cycle times are very good.

Do I really need a commercial washer for 14 loads a week?

The repairman is a good friend of mine and is also a washer-freak^^
