I recently acquired a Whirlpool portable dryer, 3 Cycle, Cool Down Care for No Iron Permanent Press Fabrics. Mod LAE 490 Serial # 9001M41602120. It works and in good shape, seems to be either a very dark Almond, or light Harvest Gold color. I suppose it's around 20-25 years old. It's going to need a few things, such as a cycle knob, a new lint screen insert and whatever else to cure a squeaking sound. Haven't found any information on it so far on the net.

Can anyone tell me anything about this dryer?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, THANKS DADoES!!!

It's much older than I thought. The biggest issue will be finding the dial. It seems to be somewhat prevalent with these dryers. I wonder why so many are missing them. Poorly made? Anyway, thanks a million!

Well made little dryers.....

They dry very well and last if well cared for.
I have a modern version of that as my daily driver.

Well, tore down the dryer completely...

The amount of lint, dust, crud was amazing. I guess it was never cleaned. Went through every inch. It's surprisingly rust free. So it now has a new filter, belt, idler assembly and drum rollers. The motor is fine, my dad looked it over. I'll be reassembling it tonight.

The control knob/dial is proving to be elusive, but hope springs eternal. For those wondering what it looks like:

@ Scott, I agree, they sure seem well built. Looking forward to using it!

Yours Sounds Similar To Mine

But maybe a later model:

It seems they are twins Mrs Bucket. Mine is Harvest Gold as well.

Kevin, I am taking pictures and a video, stay tuned.

Nice ad: One of my friends had that exact set growing up. The washer had the bristle brush Magic Mix type lint filter. I see on the ad that it says this washer model "automatically filters out lint", which would indicate this one self cleans, but then again it may not. At the very least then, it looks just like the one his mom had.

The dryer is nearly finished

Just need the dial/knob. Took the pictures, made a short vid. Plus there is a surprise. I'll upload everything tonight. Stay tuned!
