Chet that’s the optional concentrator nozzle, lol

I love the call this tall tub dishwasher.

Looks to bethat’s the optional concentrator nozzle, lol

I love they call this tall tub dishwasher.

Looks to be in great shape and these were really reliable dishwashers. They gave a lot less trouble than the power clean machines of the same era. The power clean machines were a lot more effective, especially at top rack cleaning

I have a customer down in Georgetown, who is from Germany and she moved into the townhouse with an old roper Dura wash dishwasher about five years ago and even though she’s had Bosch and Mila‘s in Europe, she loves this dishwasher. She said it’s the best dishwasher she ever had can’t believe how nice and simple it is and how well it works. She even had us put a whole new pump and motor in a few years ago. The machine is over 30 years old now.

Honestly, I'd call most standard tub dishwashers tall tubs and most single rack dishwashers standard tub machines. The tall tubs of today don't exist in my world.

What trouble did power clean machines give compared to dura-wash? Was it the timer?

I never liked dura wash, it always left particles behind and the grate at the bottom would be covered with food bits.

Power clean dishwashers had a lot of problems with things getting caught in the grinder, the pump was also more complicated and prone to funny noises, air, locking, etc.

While it sounds funny, but there were a lot of problems with the upper wash arm being broken off, and of course, customers would block it and not realize why nothing was getting clean in the top rack. They were better off with the silly pop-up tower

That is a down side to machine that take in large food bits. I've found twist ties, glass, plastic wrap, and the like in power cleans.

When you say air locking, what was the symptom and what was the cause? Did it go away on the next drain and re-fill?

Other than that "concentrator nozzle" that I have never seen before ...the overflow float is missing. this dishwasher will not fill without one in place. I have heard mixed reviews about the DuraWash system , I have never used one though. I have used the PowerClean dishwashers mainly a Kenmore Sears Best and a trio of Whirlpools , two that were in an apartments and a Quiet Partner machine in my house in Omaha back in the 90's. That machine was far from quiet yet it performed quite well and never had a load emerge with anything left on the dishes. All the PowerClean dishwashers I have used were powerhouses.

The Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module was and is the greatest, best performing dishwasher ever created far superseding anything before or after.

I regret replacing and not taking my then fairly new Power Clean with me.
