I was wondering what year Whirlpool added the circle around their name logo? I saw a washer from 1984 that had it so figured it had to be before then.

which logo

The w on the agitator or the comet looking circle around the whirlpool name on the console? If the latter my guess is mid 80's too...The W on the surgulator has been there ever since I can remember but I was born in 73

I believe they added the comet around the logo..

around 1982 as my mom has a 1979 Imperial 70 dryer that did not have the comet but her 1982/83 Supreme washer did.....PAT COFFEY

Inglis with W

Most of the old Inglis washers from the early 60s on back had the agitator with the W on the top. I believe the higher end models had the Whirlpool agitator, while the lower end models had the "knob top." When I was little, I didn't understand why our Inglis washer had a W on the agitator, or what that stood for. I later realized that the W was for Whirlpool. I guess the company simply imported WP agitators from the US, rather than create one with the Inglis logo. That changed in the mid 60s.

What about the Whirlpool logo w/ the "W" under the bottom of the "whirlpool"?

While that got removed from the "trademark", you would often see it on the serial # nameplate of the appliance it would be on...
