Hi all I have a question about my 1996 Whirlpool ultimate care. This machines timer has been going bad for the last few years, it began allowing water in during the first drain for a few second and then would cut the water off. It also has been spray rinsing during the first spin. It will do its normal scheduled spray rinses during the beginning of the final spin, but here’s where the big problem is. During the last 2 minutes of the final spin, it spray rinses AGAIN resulting in overly wet laundry once it has completed the final spin. It will only do this on the regular/heavy cycle, does not happen on PERM PRESS or DELICATES cycle, or hand wash cycle, only the main cycle.

This issue has slowly come on over the last few years and now it will not stop letting water in whenever it wants to. It does shut back off each time thankfully. It has never allowed water in when the machine was OFF, so this is getting really annoying. Will be replacing this machine with a newer direct drive later this year, however is there anything I can do in the mean time to correct this?

That's unfortunate as timers are the one thing that's become really hard to find for some direct drive washers. Maybe shut the water supply off once the final spin starts so it doesn't saturate your clothes with an unnecessary spray at the end? Then turn the water back on for the next load. I know that's kind of a pain but it should get rid of the issue temporarily.

Yeah that’s what I figured, that’s out the door then cause they do not make the timer for my machine anymore. I just don’t wanna get rid of it once I replace it as it’s in very good shape. Thanks for the input guys.
