Square buttons, the giveaway

No, it's our KDP-18, the Patrician. This was a great dishwasher although it had no heating coil for boosting the water. I offered this to the AW members two years ago when we broke down the house, but nobody bit.

Model.....

Actually I believe this is a KDP-18. This was the very first Patrician model that KitchenAid introduced. The buttons and control panel are of the similar design as what you would find on the Superba 18.

One thing I forgot to mention...

This model is rare. When the 18 series was introduced, the built-in models included the Superba, Imperial, and Custom models. Then a year or two later the Patrician model was introduced. I will scan both brochures and post them here later.

Hey Todd,

Don't go to any trouble. I'm not interested in the machine for myself but it did look like an unusual KA for somebody who might want to add it to a collection.

hey that would be cool to see... when we moved into the current home 26 years ago it had the kitchen aid superba loved that machine till it caught fire in 1986 the detergent cup shorted out while running... Whirlpool replaced the machine with a kuds 21 but my parents bought a maytag du1000 man that machine could clean and my parents sold the kitchen aid to our best friend who to this day still uses it.

Randall, I've heard about the KA fires caused by detergent cup electrical issues. After Whirlpool took over, they moved the solenoid above the cups so that if there was any leaking, it wouldn't drip down and cause a short.
