Who made these retro recliner chairs

I cannot for the life of me remember the name. A few months ago one came up at the Restore, I hesitated and missed it.. but this morning another one showed up and I got it. Hopefully picking it up this afternoon but in the meantime it's driving me nuts, the company name.. I always remember their magazine ads.

That's what it looks like, anyway. Another firm called Niagara made similar styles in the early 50s

I knew them as Contour

I remember ads for them in most of the shelter magazines of the 1960s through early '70s.

Now, with my back and knees as they are, they do not look comfortable.

They look like they would be impossible to get out of!

Here it is . the other half got home sooner than expected and I had to rush over and get it LOL Can't tell if it's been recovered or not, the material is immaculate and clean, most of these I've ever seen have been naugahyde or vinyl. This one has the massage feature that needs some work but the electric recline works perfectly and Lawrence it's very very comfy. I've been wanting one of these for so long and for only $40

Please ignore the plaid sofa in the background. It is not my doing really. Our neighbors were buying a new sofa set for their family room and were going to toss this set or send it to Restore and it's in very good condition so we took it to use up until Pip grows up, just in case he damages it it will be no loss... but now I have to worry about him damaging my fine Contour lounge chair hmmmmm

Hey Pete,

I have that identical lounge! My good friend also has one, same upholstery. They do differ in size though, mine is wide and long, and hers is narrower and shorter. So I guess they came in different sizes.

Our local blood donation center has about 15-20 of these chairs for people to sit/lay in while donating. They are very easy to get in and out of, and extremely comfy too. I've almost fallen asleep while donating, they're that good.

Here's Mine!

Only $25 at an estate sale where it had the place of honor in a knotty-pine basement lair facing a 50's sound system. Don't know how it ever got up the curved stairway but a Bendix combo would have been easier. Recall Art Linkletter hawking these chairs as "customized" to your body type; the salesman would presumably come over and measure you like a suit. No wonder there were so many upholstery choices surviving.

It's absolutely true, pictures don't lie so....

yeah, this is a good old Contour chair...I always thought they were made in St. Louis where I grew up...always advertised on the back of the TV book in the newspaper
