The ACE Acti-blu that is lime-scented is to die for!

And I have to totally agree with Venus. That stuff is my new fave detergent.
I love this stuff. 2.2 lbs/1 kg - $1.99 a bag @ HEB. Haven't seen it at any other stores.

I have two bags of the-lime-in-the-Ace, but haven't yet used it. Soon, soon .... it's dumped in a cannister ret-2-go.

Have you noticed that Chinese Tide is a finer-ground powder than the typical product? It also seems a bit week, takes a stronger dose to get that slippery feel to the water, and no sudsing. Or maybe I have contaminated water...

I like Wisk.. has a pleasent arouma with no flippin Glade Plug in smells.. Also like the Gain stuff in the maroone bottle thats apple scented.. At least it smells like shampoo... The All small and mighty is funky smelling...
Oh, my Box of Bingo (which BTW, Colgate-palmolive is sending me a whole butt load of it, supposedly, from an email they sent me!)used in conjection with normal flavored downy smells good as well. Actually come to think of it, Bingo did work well and has a pleasent arouma... than again my bed smells like the new man in my life, and thats pleasent!... LoL

I used to love Dash as a kid, my mother decided it was too sudsy for our new machine, (a Norge VFQ, or something pushbuttony) and switched to boring old Tide. Dash was perfumey and sweet, but it smelled way better than chemically smelling Tide to my young nose. Then there was the rumor that Tide put holes in your clothes, and she then got delivery from an industrial supplier of detergent, paper towels, garbage bags, and toilet paper called "TOC's. We always had huge supplies of industrial products on hand, no brand names, because we lived within spitting distance of a hospital, and my mother made a deal with the suppliers. I was always in awe of other people's brands. Oh, well, she put 4 kids through college and my clothes were clean, just didn't smell like my other friends did.

Liquids

If anyone is near a Stop and Shop (Foodhold) supermarket, they carry a store-brand knockoff of Tide (orange bottle) that smells IMHO 100 percent fresher and cleaner than Tide liquid!

I would say it works about as well as the Kirkland/Costco liquid, but is definitely not the same product-it sudses up far less.

The Ajax liquid (blue bottle, without bleach alternative) is not horrible and performs pretty well!

Exploder, the Gain you liked (the red bottle) is HISTORY around here....it just disappeared!

Pturo....that's funny, my mother did the same thing!

It was ALWAYS Dash....she was brand-loyal even then.

When Concentrated Dash faded away, she jumped back to Tide, and then, oddly, Solo...

When Dash went lemon, I FREAKED, because it smelled so good and was so cheap...I used it to scrub the floors as well.

Glenn-- My Chinese Tide definitely produces suds, at least in the FL'er. I love its almond-y scent, but I ration my stock. The only reason I have any is due to the graces of Venus. I am also a fan of the lime-scented Ace, thanks to her for that, as well.

Euegene:

Is it time for another "care package"? I'll be glad to forward some more Chinese Tide! I don't recall any non-sudsing issues, although I agree that the powder is a bit finer. Our water here is like Panthera described; it breaks before the glass hits the floor! LOL

I'm not even going to tell you guys what I stumbled upon this past week! They did not have much in stock, so I hope to go back and get some more of this "new find"!! As soon as I do, I'll let you all know what it is.

Powdered ALL

ALL (Powder Form) is available at Walgreens. The smell is 100% CLASSIC DETERGENT! If that is too expensive then try the liquid ALL with bleach - once it washes the smell is similar to a classic detergent smell. Hope this helps (oh and I use Downy FREE softener so that no smells can compete with whatever detergent I use).

You may also want to try SEARS Ultra Plus (I like the liquid format that has added softener)

Venus-- While part of me is panting "YES YES YES! More Chinese Tide and Ace Acti-Blu, please!", my house is being overrun by my detergent stock. I've had to move some of it out to the garage. My 5-lb. bag of old-fashioned laundry soap (from Soaps Gone Buy Online) arrives Monday. I really need to whittle down my current supply a bit before adding any more. Thanks for the offer and I'll definitely take you up on it in a couple of months, OK? I freakin' LOVE that lime-scented Ace.

So......what's the mystery product you found? Reveal, girl!

There's still Apple Mango Tango (or whatever) Gain here. Both liquid and powder.

I used the Lime-In-The-Ace last night on a load of towels/socks. 6 oz dose, which I was afraid of oversudsing during EcoActive so I added a smidgeon of Gain HE liquid as a counteractant, which apparently helped. There was sudsing, but not *over*sudsing. 2 oz of oxy-booster, and whites were nicely blasted @ 130°F.

I use the Original scent Tide for the colors and Tide w/Bleach for the whites. Then I use Downy April fresh Liquid in the 2nd deep rinse. I rinse everything twice in the Maytag. By the time I do the second rinse my water is clear and the softener doesnt have to compete with the detergent scent. When the clothes come out of the dryer the smell to me is clean.
I do agree that the new scents that they have like the Tide Vanilla and stink smell makes me gag. The tenant that lives below Scott uses that plus the Downy version of the vanilla and its overkill. He will use the detergent and the liquid softener and then throw in a dryer sheet in the dryer of that scent. P U !!!! The scent makes me gag and one scent that I dont like is that tropical Downy. It will actually make me throw up if I smell it. Gag-O-Rama.

the smell of clean

I just bought a box of Save-A-Lot's Power Cycle powder. It smells great, good and clean, not perfumed. I can't comment on its long-term cleaning ability yet, but it did a good job on my diry work jeans....

and it's CHEAP....100 loads for $5.99.

This is by far the worst smelling downy softner i have ever used in my life.. It gives me such a friggin headache.. I am going to return it to sams tommrow and get something that smells NORMAL... Phewww

That in conjunction with the ALL small mighty that i used, i had to re wash my cloths to rid them of the god awful perfumie paris hiltonish scents... Ughhhhh

Time for some nice Snuggle or some April Fresh Downy

Too bad they don't have the Downy Febreze Citrus one, which is at least interesting....

Downy's coasting on their laurels and their name. Some store brands are at least as good. I remember reading the webmaster Robert's post about buying unscented Downy, which I had NEVER done....I actually like to use that with heavily-scented detergents because they don't wipe the original fragrance away.

Also, Downy is obscenely expensive around here.

Downy=Overrated!

Chad..

I agree with you totally about the Clean breeze Downy!..Tide also make a terrible version of clean breeze scent. I wish TPTB at P&G would wake up and return to the clean, fresh scents of the 70's and 80's.Quite frankly, Downy is a ripoff! Suavitel and Final Touch are much less expensive and just as good.

I should've down sized my pitcure.. LoL...

It still makes me sick to think of that smell... I don't what i'll swap it for yet, but we will see

Not fond of All small and mighty either rain scent....
