American culture needs to change demanding their old appliances back. People who blindly buy, let the company become anything.

It seems to me, a person who bases things on logic and common sense, that a great reputation for a company is aquired by having a strict set of codes.
Like....
*Not falling to greedy temptations.
*Appreciating the customer's positive feedback, knowing it's the difference between sink or swim.
*Having a tight Quality Control department.
*Having an excellent engineering and design staff.
*Spending plenty of time doing thorough testing.
So with that, it's a shame that products of all sorts come with a warranty that's short lived, like their products.

Yes Chet, and one front load washer was from Bauknecht of Deutschland. As far as demanding back old technology, is living in the past. Ist gone. Mover on.

Modern dishwashers use more water than older ones, like 20 times more. Thats not progress. Neither are all the premature failures.
The issue is that design foisted a smaller space lower rack when the competing brands were all going to flat lower racks. Easier to load. Fit pots better.
That’s when GE, the big user of power towers, made their flat design that looked like it came out of a chilly pool.
You say that as their dishwashers have the most innovative 3rd rack in the industry, currently?
A 3rd rack is nothing new, doesn't make machines more efficient, and as whole Whirlpool is falling behind. GE and Samsung have all released block buster products- like well thought out combos.
Indeed, however, it brought down cost and offered simplicity in that there is less to go wrong.

In addition to Chetlaham's post #22, and Vacerator's post #25, I got to thinking.... (a dangerous thing, mind you!)
The global complacency, and as mentioned, the culture, surely isn't what it used to be.
My views are that a large part of society, have adopted that "Dumbing Down" syndrome, and "Herd Mentality". - Follow the leader, do like they do.
A substantial part of this is due to advertizing, the economy, and governmental crap like idiotic mandates, instilling fear, and more.
Lord knows it seems everyone's glued to a cellphone these days, and lives by "apps".
The funny thing is, the 'net, and technology is claimed to bring people together, when in my opinion it's actually seperated people.
Humorous, funny, but yet sad, I've seen those photos of a bunch of young people sitting around the lunchroom table, each one staring at their tiny glowing screens and ignoring their immediate company.
I mentioned idiotic mandates - those include the recent ones we've all heard about, and I'm sure there's likely a thread topic on the dishwasher mandates, hot water heaters, air conditioners, and other appliances that stress people's nerves, worrying about having to replace them.
God only knows what's next on the agenda to fuss about.

Energy efficiency mandates have only resulted in more energy being used with more landfill waste. Dishwasher efficiency peaked in the early 2000s with the electronic Power Cleans and then it went down hill from there as a whole.
Even an absolute BOL Power Clean with a mediocre 11 gallon water cycle would out-clean anything sold today to the point dishware energy and water use would plummet by 90%.
