Winter Warmer Meet & Vintage Keymatic Fix November 2019
Washing Rinsing Spinning...all touch control, these washers where produced following on from the Worlds first computerised washing machine, The Servis Selectronic in 1976, in collaboration with P & G who developed New Ariel Automatic for best use of multifabric washes and enzyme washing powders.

While sorting out the Servis display came across some promotional items of the era, this was a 1970`s promotion of a Soap Dispenser, like those 60`s tea caddys, you fix it to the wall and fill it with washing powder,
it has a plastic cup over the top which you take off and press the bar underneath dispensing a measured dosage of washing powder.

Oops getting carried away with all things Servis which if ya didnt guess is my first choice of vintage washer having been the one brand we had growing up, Servis was rather like Maytag, family business and privately owned !!
Back to the weekend and its time to tackle the main job which is working out the fault with the Hoover Keymatic slope front timer from 1961.
Winter Warmer Meet & Vintage Keymatic Fix November 2019
The Hoover Keymatic Timer was made by Holzer in Germany and for its time in 1961 to 1966 it was well ahead of its time as we will see later, there where 6 types of timer used and the problems of the first where worked out and advancements made.
My timer is a version 2 timer called an AT timer, which has 36 cam positions, later ones had 42, first one being AU, then AT and later ATH x 4 , which was also combined with 6 harness modifications over the lifetime of the series and three styles of Keyplates as well.
Oh Steve, this was the lable that fell off the timer - had it been on it would have saved time working through 3 wiring schematics checking for faults Aaghhh!![this post was last edited: 12/8/2019-06:13]

The issue with the timer is it keeps cycling through the complete programme and timeline round and round, its had also blown the resistor which is used to switch between 240v and110v for the clockwork motor / timer advance... [this post was last edited: 12/8/2019-09:59]

But before that we need to rule out that there are no faults with the Hoover Keymatic card reader called the Keyplate Switch which is where the programme keyplate is inserted, now by chance we have not one but TWO replacement cardreaders which both came from the same shop but over different years, Big Thanks to Mike (Mikeymatic) and Richard (Ricky50) for hunting these down and donating them to the cause !!

All clear with this, old and new cardreaders working fine so we did swap back to the original one, and time to crack open the Timer or Programme Switch and replace the blown resistor for starters !!

This process took some time gently cracking open and studying them Programmer Switch or timer, and lessons for all around !! Also the replacement timers despite being correct voltage and requirements on the invoice order (thankfully) where wrong spec and they kept blowing, stern words for that company !!
