But we dont know whats underneath that when split open , on the bottom parts is the circuit contacts to which the wiring loom connectors plugs, (which those where ahead of their time in regards to other manufacturers machines which used individual crimped wires on their timers) instead of Hoovers block connectors.

To our complete surprise its a circuit board, never seen anything like it on other timers of the era, Star Trek next generation here we come, John Hewett is a Hoover Engineer who owned a Hoover Service Centre in Cheltenham and he says that if these went wrong they where simply swapped out and returned to manufacture for replacement and credit, If a customer needed to buy one out of guarantee they charged £4 pounds a replacement timer which would be £88 pounds in todays money !!

Here is the wheel driven by the clockwork motor from above and attached are the two sets of four contacts that make contact during the revolution of the wheel on disc to provide the right energisation of components ie, fill heat wash pump rinse and spin..ingenious..
On the side of the wheel segments are the numbers of the 1 - 36 positions which can be seen on a tiny viewing window on the side of the timer, this helps diagnose faults through timer position..
