WOOHOO!!! We're back home and all I can say is that the wash-in was an absolute BLAST! Those who missed it missed something GOOD; it was fun meeting new members as well as seeing old again. Great hospitality, good lunch & dinner (Terry, Steve & Erik are AWESOME cooks; I wonder what the Domino's deliveryman was thinking when he walked into Ross's garage?), and a DELICIOUS breakfast prepared by Nate, Nate & Will Sunday morning. Arizona is a BEAUTIFUL state with a great climate; will definitely consider Tucson as a future place of residence!
And the MACHINES...I'm going to go in chronological order (as in Roger's, Ross's, and Nate's), but I will say I got my fair share of Westinghouse action this weekend! Roger's vacuum collection is incredible; very fun playing with the Hoover Convertibles model 65, 31, & 1070, as well as the Model 29 and the Lark. I also learned that a 2-position Convertible adjusted differently than a 4-position, and how to adjust it properly. Yes, I also fired up the "Stark-Naked" Royal upright as well, and that grip-switch Eureka is nice! I wish I had time to use more!! That Blackstone is such a precision machine; very smooth-running, super-quiet and well-balanced. The agitation is much faster than I thought and it has, of course great turnover for the "turnover-obsessed" like me! The neutral drain was cool...very Kenmore-like, and what was cool is that the Blackstone was not just the only solid-tub automatic we ran at Roger's, it was the only neutral-draining automatic there as well!! How cool is that?

The Bradford twinnie was a hoot, and since it has 3, (yes, THREE) motors with a separate drain pump, I was able to do a static Kelvinator-style overflow rinse! I'm now convinced that this design is the best twinnie ever made, especially when you compare it to the others. Both Ross & Roger have Spin-X extractors, and they make all the difference in the world. Every load I put in the dryer, no matter how big it was, that ran through the Spin-X took no longer than 30 minutes to dry. Speaking of Spindriers, the Easy was very fun, practically SILENT, and very Kenmore-like!! When you turn the agitator on, it makes a cool "click-KLUNK" sound, and when the agitator is shut off with an empty tub, it twirls a bit like a Kenmore!! And this was the first time I saw a Hotpoint "filter ring" washer in action, and all I can say is WOW! Very nice, and does a great job on the linty loads! And, with the help of a higher fill level, we were able to use the Speed Queen "reverse-Burpalator" lint filter in that machine and watch the action; a real crowd favorite! I also caught a glimpse of two ultra-cool mystery machines. Ross's machines were nice as well...the bolt-down Kenmore agitates FAST (as in Speed Queen fast), and that 20 minute wash can CLEAN. The '59 Kenmore was a real beauty and I was amazed at how smooth it ran. And I can't even tell you how many loads I ran in that Westinghouse Commercial Laundromat! Even though the Bendix roared on spin, I loved the wash action. I had fun at Nate's, because it was the ABSOLUTE FIRST TIME I saw a Potato-Pulley Westinghouse in action!! It's very neat, and even though it's not too noticeable, you can see the tub slow down and speed up while it's tumbling. The action is much splashier than the early slant-fronts; to say that I was impressed was an understatement, and I'm positive that the tub is bigger than my Dual-Tumble! Not to mention the speed; I like fast tumbling speed, and the 525-RPM spin wasn't bad!! We took home some great goodies from the hosts, as well as New York goodies from Steve Toggle; thanks you guys!! Ross, Roger, & Nate--hope y'all enjoy the goodies we brought as well and put them to good use! Thanks to EVERYONE for making this event a success, and to the
WONDERFUL HOSTS who opened up their homes and collections for us to play with!!!!
Well, in typical "Westypsycholoader" or "Westytoppsycho" fashion I had to go on a long rant, but enough for now...will post some pictures but Nate gave y'all a good idea of what Friday at Roger's was like!!
And don't I look mean/scary standing by that Westinghouse; probably best to just ignore that one! ;-)
