worst GE washers

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Now perhaps people can understand my sentiment. Its not that I'm delusional or overly emotional instead I am having a sane reaction to an insane problem as would any other reasonable person.

To put things into perspective of this Youtuber it appears at 0:35 she originally had an MOL DD Kenmore, hands down the best overall washer ever made and replaced it with hands down one of the worst overall washers ever made- her reaction is 100% both normal and expected.

No matter what anyone says that level tangling and poor cleaning is not normal, acceptable or the users fault. Only thing I will disagree with her with is that they washer doesn't look pretty to me. It screams ugly all over.

I hope someone can give her a DD.

Any GE made after 1994. GE seems to have always struggled in the laundry department (usually is the way how to to tell if a company is or isn’t good), the FF machines were decent for what they were but used quite a bit of water and the rinsing wasn’t any better than a GE or Maytag. Not to mention, if the brake mechanism punched a hole through the transmission (believe John may have mentioned that somewhere in the archives) and 2 quarts of oil would spill onto the floor making a mess or if the top of the transmission had rusted through, the oil would destroy whatever happened to be washing when the failure occurred not to mention the BIG mess it would make.

Whirlpool and Maytag pulled ahead in the 90’s and 2000’s while GE was left behind in the dust.

video

I saw the video, and I feel this woman's pain. I have helped a friend from church do laundry, and I couldn't believe that washer filled just under the clothes level. I would've used deep rinse considering the clothes would still have soap in them whether I used softener or not and used deep fill if allowed to. Jack Welch was the one who set this entire disaster in motion, remember that.

That woman seems to be causing her own trouble.  The severely tangled load is soft knitted sweaters with long sleeves and such.  Normal is too agressive.  Notice she got much better results at the end on Colors which reasonably, presumably is gentler.  She may get further improvement on Delicate.

i have a maytag washer as daily driver and can say this

i have a maytag washer as daily driver it resemble this ge washer in the vid electronic controls but i sure can say that it also has its share of usal problem since purchuse in 2021

1 i can not relly on the auto sense level not enough water when washing clothes

2 do not send hot or warm water (2021 stop a certain time but problem is back) send only cold water even if set to hot or warm when usaly suppose to mix hot cold water

if for certain reasons during 2024 had to replace would try to convince my mom that we should go back to a direct drive machine like in these pics

what kills me

What kills me is the amount of people who are looking for such large machines just so they can stuff everything in and look for a magic bullet, instead of using plain old common sense with laundry. They also fail to realize that components must be small to compensate for such large tubs at least in most models. We already saw that with post filter-flos and since then, the ball has been set in motion. I believe Chet can testify to this.

@dadoes: In the few times I've mistakenly put knits on the normal cycle they've never tangled like that. The machine has no clearly defined normal cycle, she may have tried Whites in hopes of more water or rinses. Nothing is truly clear with the HE machines, there are a lot of veiled truths.
