WOW!!!!! never thought i would find one of these!!!!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

fill solonoid

i noticed the inlet hose was not tight on the solonoid valve. someone has obviously loosened it to drain the water out for winter storage in that unheated island summer cottage!

this leads me to believe the machine was well taken care of!

i noticed they also added a large washer on the left side screw holding the valve to the cabinet. i'm guessing they did this to help align the solonoid valve for a splash free squirting of water into the filling chanber that empties into the tub. i don't see any other reason for this washer.

the valve itself

looks great!

i was afraid it might hav been cracked due that this machine came from an unheated summer cottage in the middle of lake erie!

they obviously took care of it!

i filled it with hot water

and let it set about 15 min. to soften up the seal a bit as i have heard some of the guys here do.

i then turned it on and it ran great! no leaks at all! sounds like a volcano inside!

i drained it into my working rollermatic for lack of a better set up here tonite!

i put newspaper under the motor pump area and it came out completely dry!

i don't want to remove the motor pump as it works great with no leaks and i don't see any evidence of tub rust so why test fate here! gonna leave this one alone!

plus i read the drian impeller and seal has to be pressed on and off, not a simple lift it off and inspect the seal!

It found a good home

I'm glad the Mobile Maid made it into the hands of a collector and not a metal recycler. It sounds like it has an interesting history.
