I just got in this Whirlpool WTW4816FW3 washing machine (made on 9th week of 2023), didn’t expect a machine this new to have bad bearings but once I spun the drum by hand I heard them roar. I get a lot of roaring VMWs but I don’t think I’ve recalled getting a 2023 with bad bearings maybe I did once.

Typical issue, once plugged in, pump came on right away.

I guess no fixing for this one. A new control board would allow it to function but it would roar like an airplane on spin cycle. The customer complained “it was loud on spin cycle, and now it keeps making noise when not on”. I immediately assumed control board and I thought maybe it’s been vibrating a bit because it’s fairly new, but NOPE, it’s bearings.

The cost to fix is as much as a new machine as it needs a gearcase and a control board.

And once I plugged it in, the drain kept running so obviously the board is bad. Common in these 2023 units.

Everything else is good I’ll be able to part out a lot on this thing but the board and gearcase are bad.

Have you’ve seen roaring on a fairly new unit? I know these VMWs are notorious for failing bearings but this one looked too new but I manually spun the drum anyways like I always do.

I also got in this Whirlpool WTW4816FW3 washer, this one is from the 26th week of 2024, this one has good bearings but also has a bad board and is stuck on drain mode, not part of recall as it was made in the 26th week of 2024.

The roaring one is part of the recall, tho.

Lately I’ve been seeing lots of unusual failures on VMW units.

Did you ever get a 2023 VMW with bad bearings, usually the ones with bad bearings are made in 2022 or before. Bearings don’t usually fail before 3 years.

Main bearings Noisi in a whirlpool top load washer under two years old.

So what is the customer doing wrong? Are you learning anything from this? Are you helping the customers take better care of their machines

There’s no point in posting every broken machine that’s like going to an auto junkyard and reporting on every wrecked car you see without offering any solution as to how people can avoid accidents

We see fairly clear patterns in Appliance failures, but it’s always important to try to figure out why they’re failing and advise customers how to avoid such costly failures.

Numerous reasons.

1: You repeatedly post washing machines with the same issues and sometimes all with the same issues. If you were actually repairing washing machines, you’d see different issues with washers, not just the same issue on 5+ washers. This is not a realistic pattern. Like on one post I read every VMW mentioned you had was roaring which is unrealistic
Like on posts, I see you have like 20 roaring washers on some, some where over 20 need suspension rods, NOT realistic. Washers have a wide range of problems and issues, and even if it’s most common, it wouldn’t be like 30 machines in one day with the same issue.
2: You don’t include any photos, pictures, or videos. You only mention the model and serial numbers, you don’t actually take a picture or post a video on what is going on.
3: On your first post, you didn’t know the issue on your washer and why it was noisy, which meant you didn’t know about appliances until you started googling the common problems.
4: You keep flooding this site for no reason. And you don’t need to make a post of every broken washer.

I don’t post videos or images, but I’m not a service tech, if I was, I’d definitely be posting pictures and videos of the machines. I didn’t know about washers until recently, but I never claimed to be a service tech and I didn’t get into washers and dryers until recently. While you post the model number, you NEVER post the part number of the part that’s bad (at least rarely). I only saw a couple post where you’ve actually posted the part number of the specific part.

All your posts are spammy and are potentially deceptive to appliance buyers.

This is not intended to be an insult I’m just saying his posts are tiring, spammy, and likely deceptive. And when repairing you say the repair is done quickly. Appliance repair takes time, it’s not like screwing in a light bulb.
