Looks like Friday the 13th turned out to be a winner! Finally, after searching for the last 5 years, I found these on CL for $75! Clean, low use units from a vacation cottage. They have no rust anywhere! washer was made the 22nd week of '68 and dryer 36th week of '68.

HOLY MACKEREL!

These appear to be clones of the machines I got for Kevin a year or two ago from Arizona. WOW! Right down to the color. His were in a snow-bird's cottage too.

These are standard tub machines. In 1968, WP was building large capacity machines, but until 1974 or so, they were special, one model in the line type things for custom needs. I know that some large cap. models sold in good volume, but it was the mid 1970s before WP and Kenmore had matching dryers and multiple models in line from BOL to TOL all in this capacity.

These machines look really nice!

Fantastic!

You just gotta love those Woodgrain Whirlpools and Caprice Estate wagons!

Don't know how well they sold, Whirlpool spent a good bit of money advertising this set.

I have only ever seen these in avacado, wonder if this was the only color that came with the woodgrain?

Dwight,

You've found my dream set! I envy you, and may you have lots of joy with these beauties.

LOL! That's what I was going to say in my first post. I must have watched that show a little too much as a kid..

1968 IMPERIAL MARK 12 PAIR

Wow another pair of these turned up, these would also be a dream pair for me. I do have the gas dryer in coppertone with wood overlays already so the washer would suffice. The real simulated wood paneling was a one year thing only on the TOL Mark 12 pair. The machines were sold in white, avocado and edged coppertone, Harvest gold did not make its appearance till 1969, at least in WP laundry products. This washer and dryer were designed so the consumer could replace the 1/4" thick wood paneling with something else to match them to your home decor.

Dwight, I"m pea-green envious of ya. Beautiful set. Can we see money shots of both when ya can get around to it? I take it this is still the 3-speed washer and multi-tumble speed dryer. Woodgrain and two-way dryer door. What more could ya need?!!!

Three agitation speeds on the washer, yes. The dryer does not have multiple tumble speeds. The center knob control sets Super or Gentle airflow and heat input, but does not affect tumbling.

I had a white '67 Pontiac Executive Safari 9 pass wagon I bought off my dad. First year & model that Pontiac put woodgrain on a wagon. Sharp wagon. I have the dealer showroom picture of one like it.
NICE 'era' WP set, though I'm partial to the '67 Ladies we had back then. 1967 was a kick-butt year for almost anything,style-wise!
