I was sure I had one somewhere in a bunch of photos my father gave me - here's the surviving photo of that much-storied coppertone Viking dishwasher that was not only our family's first dishwasher, but was also my first 'vintage' dishwasher! Oh, what memories... I think growing up with this marked me for life - I still prefer top-loaders and I still don't think impeller-wash dishwashers do such a horrible job... LOL

I think this photo was taken in summer of 1988 and the fella being eaten by the ewil Wiking is my friend Jean, who I have known since we were like 11 and are still close friends today.

Enjoy!

Is that the Kenmore microwave that you still have? And the range? It almost seems like a smoothtop (I guess there's just too much stuff on the top to see the burners!).

Yep, that's my very first microwave that I still have (and that you helped me move out to the garage now that I have the Tappan...LOL)

That range was THE WORST electric range I ever used - a coil-top Roy that I swear blew out the power on the third floor when I used more than two burners...

I heard from Paul, YAY

We posted simultaneously, and he missed turn-around. Anxious that he wouldn't see it.

"Oh, that's too funny! I had to fiddle around with the photo when I scanned it because it turned out exactly like you posted it! Canyon thinks I'm batty because I've been laughing so much...

I warned Jean a while ago that when I found this photo I'd post it... LOL "

Wondering if you turned Jean into a washer man, at least a little bit. He looks pretty happy. Ah, Youth !!!!

"Still prefer top loaders." Me, too! Top Load Dishwashers are so compelling. Have had mine for about five months, using it almost every day, instead of every 5 or 6,

and can't imagine going back. The only concern is the finite supply, unless some enlightened company decides to bring them back.
