As a question and suggestion on these center posts and baseplates, is it possible to have one of these made by a local machine shop? I don't know how these attach to the drum but it seems if they come off they could go on. Then it could be made out of the type of metal you desire. I have never seen one clean or new so again I have no experience in this situation. Just a vote of confidence to a new direction. Does anyone have pics they could post of what a new or a good one looks like in or out of a machine? I am sure there are a lot of us out here very interested and have never seen. (virgins). oh my. Thanks

And not in a good way. I am sorry, Robert. Been following the saga for some time now.
You'll find a clean center post someday. I just know it.

One thing I do wonder, could it be that Whirlpool had not anticipated something or other in one of the cleaning products which came along years after these machines were designed? I am thinking, look what Shout! does to the faceplate of so many consoles or the bellows on earlier thumpers. Be great if you found someone who had only used soap and was allergic to bleach or whatever.
