Nice Washer!

Of Course being a fan of Filter-Flo's myself I couldnt help but drool with envy! Nice Find looks like it has all the bells and whistles too! Im Still looking for a really nice "pair" from that era with a minibasket!

I'd be using that baby every day for all my laundry!! Great water hog, fabulous load turnover, even on big loads. Had one of those for many years, 1982 model. Nothing like it in the world!!

I nam glad you find it. It looks to be in great shape. Enjoy it! Is this a model with straight vane agitator or ramp agitator? Ingemar

Good job Shane

Enjoy! This question will be a little off this subject, but it seems a good time to ask it.Many of us are dissatisfied with our modern washers, mostly related to inadequate water usage, dumbed down water temps, and other energy saving requirements that make truly clean clothes impossible. Why not, instead of spending-I will pull a figure out of the air here-$1000- on a new machine that won't get the job done, engage one of our fellow club members who are repair technicians to recon one of the less complex older machines(GE,WP/KM,and Maytag)to as close to new as possible to use for a daily driver.I am not talking about just fixing whatever happens to be wrong with it initially, but to at the same time replace those items that are likely to go wrong with daily use-in other words to create as much dependability as possible up front.I know several of our members repair appliances for a living,so could one or more of you give an opinion on this?

Ah what a wonderful machine! GEs are such fun. Enjoy in good health, and I hope to see you and Andrew next time I am in Florida. NO changing speeds while the washer is running! (LOL)

Thank You.. Brettsomers

A big thank you to David Cibrian( Brettsomers). Through him I was able to purchase the mini basket and fabric softener thingy for my fabulous GE Filter Flo.I can't wait to get them and put them to good use.
I had forgotten how wonderful Filter Flo's were at removing dog hair from clothing and dog beds/blankets. Such a shame GE doesn't make these machines anymore!
Now if only I can get the hubby to understand why I have been using the Filter Flo more than my LG front load machine after we spent $2300 on the LG set.
He's a bit of a sour puss lately..LOL! =)

GE / Hotpoint FilterFlows

Nice one Shane, looking forward to seeing the pics, love the wood grain panel, our original UK filterflows had the timeline console...the later ones had a rather bland control panel similar to the Front loaders, one dial does all...

The beauty of your is the Mini Basket..although you could just about wash a hankie in our filter pan I suppose...here`s a link showing the Hotpoint Spiralator in action!!

Enjoy, Mike

UK Top Loaders

Morning Steve, we only had a few top loaders in the 60`s / 70`s although we had a number of imported models, around 1963 we had the first Hotpoint Top Loader, Model 1500, 9lb load, with 3kw heater variable wash & temp programmes, 3 heat settings, 6 progs, 2 rinses & a 1050rpm spin..and a little handy 2way (white / teak effect) melomine worktop!!

The inner & outer bowl where made of vitreous enamel with a white spiralator with filter flow pan, the design didnt change until production ceased in the 90`s other than a plastic outer bowl, cosmetic changes and different programmers, 2 controls on first machines, then timeline controls until 80`s then programmer dial like FL...

This is Keiths (Keymatic) Hotpoint 1501 produced aka 1964

Interesting; thank you!

One would thing the controls would have been better placed in the front. As from what I can surmise, many modern front-loaders are adjacent to the kitchen sink in the UK, a practise which I am sure did not evolve overnight!

IIRC it had been said that the twin-tubs (prior to the front-loaders) were placed there as well. Do let me know if I am ill-informed!
