Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

In 1989, I was 33 years old, living in Los Angeles, in the 5th year of what is now going on a 24-year relationship with my "sigot."

I will start a "New Year's Eve Celebrations" thread where I'll post some pix of us in our dotage -- we're both 51.

{{{*SCREEEEEAM!!!*}}}

I was in 5th/6th grade that year. I still remember those commercials, as I used to watch WAY too much TV.

I wish I had used some old formulation Biz yesterday when I did a load of darks. I had an "unreported" stain of my own. It was an olive oil stain on one of my dress shirts that I forgot about and didn't spray with Shout before washing. Even 2 tables of Ariel Colour & Style didn't shift it, and it went un-noticed until I was ironing it this morning! UGH.

Nabbed

A case of vend sizes of the old Biz in the blue box, the last incarnation before P&G sold the line to Redoux. The new stuff is horrible! Full of fillers, way too fruity scent and make heaps of suds, well at least in my front loaders.

Where were you in 1989?

25 years old, in college, and dealing with a messy divorse. For me, 1989 was not a very good year.

Momma alway said, you sittin' on a gold mine!

~way too fruity scent.
If you don't like how my cologne interacts with my body chemistry feel free to send me something else!

I was 26 and single. Coming off my second divorce. I was never quite the astute businessman. I was GIVING away what I should have been charging for.............

Yeah. We felt that one all the way down in L.A. I was working in Century City, on the 37th floor of the 44-story twin towers. We felt the building slightly tremble and someone yelled, "Earthquake!" It was hardly felt - the building regularly bowed and buffeted in the wind which was a stronger feeling -- but even sensing a slight "whoop" and a shudder of a 44-story building was enough to give one pause.

Then someone else yelled that the earthquake was centered in SAN FRANCISCO and gradually the news began pouring in. One of the senior partners of the firm was at the ball game that very day when part of the stadium collapsed but he was not sitting in that section.

thinking...

I was just starting junior high school in 1989. I would have been about 11 or 12 years old then. As a matter of fact I do remember my mother using Biz in our belt-drive Kenmore. Guess we were a perfect match for that commercial!

Lets see I was 33 back then, married 2 years. Still married to the same wonderful and understanding wife. Was working in MIS in Dartmouth Medical Center. Was looking to buy a house, renting at that time. Can't believe how fast time has gone by and how things have changed some for the better some for the worse, yep 51 now. WTF?????

In 1989 I turned 40, and had been living in Tucson just over ten years. The commercials for the "Biz" product that I remember had as their theme "In The Biz Bag" whereby mama segregated clothing with special stains into a separate machine load into which "Biz" would be added. That phrase made it into the popular culture for a little while, but I have no recollection when it was.

Just out of high school, listening to "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock and "Pure Energy" by Information Society. Living at home playing the hell out of my C64. Jammin on my guitar. Listening to classic rock on WCKW (one of the REAL classic rock stations before the females took over turned it into a "girl power" station). Watching America's Funniest Home Videos and The Simpsons (Animaniacs, Ren & Stimpy, Beavis and Butt-head hasn't come out yet).

I was in High School

Yes, and I had long hair, keds, Capizios, a black and a white pair, a 79 Honda Prelude, and coming up to my first trip to San Fransico, wanting so badly to go to the Castro! I am sure that I will make it there one of these days, the Castro that is. I still did not have ring around the collar, and a Job at Mogomery Wards!

"We Biz Bag! Whew!"

The Biz Bag goes back a little bit further (think it was about '75 through '77), but the principle was as nurdlinger said--the bag was reserved for the really funky stuff that needed Biz.

Anyone remember the Eddie Albert Biz commercials from the turn of the 1970s? Funny that he was a rabid ecologist and he was paid to do those commercials (much like Arthur Godfrey was with Axion!)...
