I had a set identical to this set that we bought new in 1987 for $995.00, I still have the handwritten receipt. This White Westinghouse washer was the very best automatic washer that I ever owned. It gave us 7 years of trouble free service, and we sold it with the home, and the new owners continued to use this set for many years as well. They were stacked in a narrow W/D closet. Hope that you enjoy them as much as I did. BTW, ours did have the reversing tumbling action, and never had a tangled load.

you'll like the no-nonsense spin cycle that kicks off with a bang and a rush of drainwater down the standpipe 
well, in this case it kicks with a bang and then squeaks and slowly (very slowly, I mean really slowly, slow as hell if you understand what i mean) ramps up.

I chose this unit in a horrible neighborhood because of the laundry room.
It's bigger than my living room!
I still have room enough for a few more washers. I also have several prototypes that I have to get rid of.
As soon as I keep 1 unit of each current model TLA has and 1 void ready for prototyping I'm good.
The Maytag A 50 is in a privileged position, right in front of the laundry sink, so if I need to test a new washer or use the laundry sink (which I almost never use for more than draining 11 washers), i can just roll it away and I have and empty slot to hookup another washer.

Yes I bought this W-Westinghouse washer (only - no dryer) and dropped it off at Thomas' place... because he does NOT have enough machines jammed into his laundry room! LOL
Model #LT280JXD1. I assume it's a very late 70's or early 80's model as it has the older 2 (3?) belt design with the "potato" pulley and continuous one-direction rotation, but the later control panel design.
While it does work, this washer needs a few parts: It desperately need a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">new tub boot</span> (it's badly torn) and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">new belts</span>. As Thomas noted above, it "ramps up" to the full, 450 RPM spin speed at a more-than-extremely-leisurely pace, much slower than I remember.
I seem to remember some years back there still being a supply of these tub boot somewhere??
Also, while the belt driven pump works perfectly, are pumps for these still available?
