Have done a bit more research along the Z-series lines, courtesy of Which magazines.
The basic series of 'science Z's' appeared between 1981 and 1982 and appeared to comprise:
Z915T (basic model, 500rpm only, no options)
Z918T (800/500rpm, half load option)
Z919T (1000/500, half load and cold wash options)
Z929T (as above but with a detachable lower panel concealing the filter - can't quite fathom any point to this!)
Z939T (as above but with a button for 500rpm spin)
Z949T (as per Z939T but a semi integrated machine)
Z988T (top loader, drum type with 800rpm spin)
Three all button cotrol machines were built:
Z1000S (1983 - currys exclusive)
Z2001IS (1982)
ZE2002IS (1984)
The Z989 was introduced circa 1984 and was a 1000rpm top loader, again of the drum type.
The complete series was overhauled and reintroduced, to my understanding, looking exactly the same but with the addition of another letter or number in the model description i.e Z929T became Z9292T and Z918 became Z9181.
Only been able to decipher three dryers:
Z907 (no idea)
Z910T (standard machine with two heat options)
Z930 (sensordryer - turn the dial to specific fabric type programmes and the machine does the rest. Not timer controlled)
A bit rough round the edges, but there you have it - the appliance of science!
Any feedback on accuracy, omissions etc greatly welcomed. Zanussi's model line up have always been a bit of a mystery and I am not even going to attempt the follow on 'FJ' series.
Cheers
Paul
p.s the very blurred piccy may or may not be a Z949T - anyone able to confirm?
