Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

They had fridges, washers and dryers too. Not sure if they manufactured them or rebadged someone else's. I saw a Zenith wringer washer in a junkyard once, and there's been a Zenith automatic picture of the day. That's a nice range!

The wonderful world of color & light

Westinghouse and GE ranges also used different colors for different heats on their deluxe models. At the height of using colors on controls, the TOL GE original style rollout dishwasher in maybe 55 or 56, the one where you pull the big lever down to lock the cover on the tank and start the machine, had a timer dial in the lower center of the front panel. It ran on a shaft that was turned by a gear system on the bottom of the dishwasher motor and only a small part of the dial labeled with the exact part of the cycle was visible at any one time. Not only did it have the parts of the cycle printed on the upper side of the dial so that you could just glance down and read it, but there was also a plastic crest above the dial that changed colors with the stages of the cycle. There were color lenses on the inner part of the dial and a bulb under the lens to shine the color into the clear plastic crest.
