Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Reference?

LG Electronics acquired the Zenith tradmark within the past couple of years. When I was at THD we sold air-conditioners and a couple other things marked "Zenith". Are you referring to actual bygone products here, or something more recent?

Most likely the reference is to the POD today with the Model 300 and 400, a matched washer and dryer with "exclusive push-button controls". I'm not sure who actually made these but no doubt someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I've never seen a Zenith up close, but I found a lot of information at the Beatty Brothers Archives near Fergus, Ontario that would suggest that the Zenith was of a similar design to the unusual Dominion automatic that I have.   I saw old parts breakdown lists for the 1957 and 1958 washer lines that included a 'Zenith' , 'Beatty', or 'Dominion' nameplate.

IF there really is a link,  the machine would be based on a one-off Easy patent.  As far as the Canadian machines go, Beatty dropped the Dominion brand name in 1961 and their 1962 and later washers were based on a Blackstone design.

Here's a link to a thread of mine where I learned (the hard way, of course) a lot about the Dominion:
