Sears/Transformco would be smart to sell the Kenmore brand, as it it did with Craftsman. As you all know, Kenmore is just a private label that is slapped onto products made by other companies, so the quality of the OEM is what you get when you buy it as a Kenmore. When I worked for Sears, they told us that new features were given to the Kenmore brand before the OEM used it on their own machines. That was how powerful Sears and Kenmore were in the industry. Now, not so much. Even the service promise that came when Sears techs were a powerhouse all over the country is now a thing of the past. I think that Sears service still exists in some cities more than others, but I get the feeling that they largely do 3rd party warranty work now, and you won't necessarily get a Sears tech if your Kenmore needs service under warranty. I think it makes much more sense to buy a product under the OEM brand instead of Kenmore; tech info and service is just easier to get that way. For example, I would much rather have LG service an LG washer than go through Sears to service the same washer as a Kenmore.
