anyone now how to fix or where to ...............

I wouldn't think any of the wires connected to the motor are ground...this has a two prong plug and most likely would not have a grounding wire. There are likely three wires from the motor itself...a neutral and a "hot" for the High speed coils and a "hot" for the low speed.

    Please don't do LSD

You might see if the same movies are available at Internet Archive, http://www.archive.org. They give you a choice of file sizes and qualities. They play just fine on my old computer with Slackware linux and Mplayer. I am not sure what the Youtube site uses for video but it seems very jerky to...

    vintage water coolers

We retrofitted a Sunroc fountain with a R.O. glass filler and hooked the unit up to our R.O. system at our shop. One time I saw a really old (early 50's?) refrigerated drinking fountain with a porcelain top (Halsey Taylor) at a psychiatric hospital auction but thought it would be too heavy for...

Vintage Laundry Appliances and Electric Power

I was at the hardware store last night and still saw lamp sockets that have exposed screw terminals for the wires! You would think modern electrical codes wouldn't allow it... The devices that convert a screw base lampholder to a 2 prong socket are popular for plugging in the Christmas lights to...

    Hobart generators

It appears that both Hobart welders/generators and kitchen equipment were founded by C.C. Hobart...the food service equipment business was founded first: http://www.atlasbooks.com/marktplc/01340.htm Today both Hobart Bros. welders and Hobart food service equipment are owned by Illinois Tool...

    GE "Carry Cool" Air Conditioners

I got one of these from the Goodwill for $4.99 and the bearings were squealing in the fan motor so I re-lubricated it and got it to work. I had used it to cool a room in the barn but it was icing up when left on constantly so I had to break down and buy a Haier from Wal-Mart to replace it. I may...

    I won something on Ebay

It is a good idea to remove as much old lubricant as possible using a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol before re-lubricating. If the speed sounds slow the motor may need to be disassembled, cleaned, and the bearings relubricated with a light oil. If rubber rejuvinator doesn't help the drive...

    Tempting...

I have not had trouble connecting ceramic cartridge phonos to PA amps and other amps with just an aux input...there is usually enough compensation available in the bass and treble controls to make it sound good.

    Leslie Vibratone Highboy

We have got a Leslie in the shop from 1969...we replaced all paper and electrolytic capacitors in the amp and today at lunchtime I put in the new 6550 tubes we had ordered and it really sounds good! We are working on it (along with a C-3 Hammond) for a church.

    Tempting...

These I believe are Collaro too and have the function where the tonearm moves up to sense record diameter before dropping. I found one ofthe component models at the Goodwill...they have a special power connector designed to connect to a Magnavox stereo receiver.

Where do you find vintage TV's

I am the moderator for one of the TV forums at Audiokarma.org (not .com actually) and can really recommend it for TV advice. I've got that exact GE model there...found it in an antique shop for $10.00. It needed a new CRT and all new capacitors...now is working well and seems to have the best...

    Classic car question

Have you got your Taurus checked out? A 1995 is still a fairly new car. Unless you cracked a rod in the engine or something like that I'm sure it's getting worth fixed. I would recommend getting the Pinto for a second car and not getting rid of your old one. You need to check all the fluid...

    1959 Wurlitzer

This model 2700 is actually a little later, from around 1963 or so. The 1959 model is I believe a 2300 and is more ornate. That is a really good price for one! If it were closer I'd go right out and get it.

    I won something on Ebay

This looks like an Astro-Sonic console chassis in a portable cabinet. Looks good! I have never seen one like this before. Magnavox's consumer electronics division was sold to North American Philips sometime in the late 70's...this record player was made by the original Magnavox co. of Fort...

    Re: First Family Color TV:

My parents got a 1975 Zenith solid state Chromacolor II as a wedding present. I can remember the picture starting to shrink vertically and having to use vise-grips to turn the channel as I probably had pulled the knobs off. We got a 1986 Panasonic console to replace the Zenith and I can...

    Electrolux vs. DAM

I recently got a self propelled Dial-a-Matic from an estate sale for $5.00. Was able to get the type D bags from the local vacuum repair shop (got the last package) and he said they could order more. I enjoy the self-propulsion, have never seen a vacuum cleaner that had it before.

    Questions about Maytag wringer machine

I saw a Maytag wringer machine in an antique shop today I was thinking of getting and had some questions on it maybe you can answer. It is probably a 50's or 60's model with a round tub and detachable lid. The wringer release bar is turquiose color. My Grandma has one and still uses it but I...

    58 Zenith Update

Highway Hi-Fi Here is a site we found about the Highway Hi-fi. http://ookworld.com/hiwayhifi.html The record player is about the same size as an large CB radio or 8-track. The records are 7". Somehow the vertical motion of the tonearm is limited so it cannot bounce off the record. We were...
