How to rewire Unimatic with ground

I didn't know Robert needed rewiring. I thought he was already grounded.

    Brain Dead Unimatic

It could be a short in the timer. I remember Greg having the same issue with one of his unimatics in Omaha when I attended his wash-in.

    A Word to the Wives - 1955

Poor Marsha Hunt. After a promising beginning at MGM she was a victim of the HUAC blacklist and reduced to making industrial films like this. Interesting to see Darren McGavin so young and at least they shaved his chest instead of that repulsive shag carpet he usually had in t.v. roles.

Pink Maytag set on ebay (again?)

This guy is a joke. Every few months he turns up again with that same ridiculous price and idiotic description. "Washer runs great except it won't drain blah blah blah". IDIOT!

Last Call for my December 11th Wash-In...

Wish I could join you but alas a trio to the west coast is not in the holiday budget this year. Have a good time and over suds at least one machine for me. Les

What a great find, Peter! It's great you found a "holiday dryer" just in time for the holidays. ;) Les

    An interesting photo

Your grandma is quite the looker. She has the look of a 1960's French new wave film star.

    Thanksgiving Dishes Being Washed

And no pre-rinsing needed for a KitchenAide, right Robert? I washed my Thanksgiving dishes in my early 70's KitchenAide superba. I hope you and Fred had a great turkey day!

Update on the 1948 General Electric

Robert, it looks amazing and I see you've moved the 58 and 61 to a new place to keep their older sibbling company. Are you planning on moving the 47 there as well to create a "GE corner"? I look forward to my next visit and see it in person. BTW, the turquoise cap looks terrific on that...

    Favorite Console

My favorite it the 58 Kenmore timeline washer panel that matches the dryer shown in the photo next to the Apex dryer in reply #14.

    Beg your Pardon?

It looks like a 1950's top loading Philco.

Cracking open an early GE AW6 Drive Unit/Transmission

thanks for the etailed photos and explanations, Robert. I never would have guessed that bellows was made of copper. I hope the problem with the new 48 is something easy to fix once you crack her open. With your collection of GE's growing like they are I may start calling you "Activator boy"...

    Spped Queen Combo POD

That's the first time I've ever seen one of these machines. Approx what year is this? Seems like everyone tried their hand at making a combo but none ever seem to catch on with consumers too well.

    POD 8-17-10 Easy Golden Regent

Even a Man can use it indeed! How typically 60's sexist. I love the excesively hairy arm and the cigar with the band still on it.

POD 8-11-10 WP 18 lb washer

If they didn't want to change their underwear everyday I wonder if that means they didn't bath or shower either? EEK! Mom's crack about wishing they'd wear pajamas is too funny. Imagine those 7 hearty boys running around with no jammies.

    POD 07-27-10 WCI "Frigidaire"

Blasphemy. The very idea of calling a WCI horror a Frigidaire!

    1960 Kenmore won't drain

Thanks, everyone. We'll check out the pump to see if it's seized or not. Hopefully we can get to it this weekend. Gordon, thanks so much for the parts info and all. Les

    1960 Kenmore won't drain

A Kenmore question: Stephen and I were doing a load in the 1960 Kenmore alphabet and both the lint filter has stopped circulating and the machine won't drain. Both problems started at the same time so I'm guessing the same problem is the cause of both. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks, Les

    Tide with AMC Washer

Rich's department stores in Atlanta sold AMC washers & dryers along with a few other items in the 1960's. We had an AMC window fan in the laundry room window. The washers operated very much like an Easy.
