    GE filter-flo memories

I had neighbors with a c.1969 model that continued agitating with the lid open. When did they start making those with lid switches that stopped agitating?

Are the Perminant Press & Enzime cycles of the 60's & 70's Obsolete?

For Kenmore washers, Enzyme Soak cycle was renamed Pre-Soak in 1971. They were originally up to 30 minutes until 1974 when they reduced them to 22 minutes. As for Permanent Press of today, the top-loaders mostly just have high agitation and low spin speeds without any cool-down, as that is...

First mid 1970s Kenmore Washer Operating Instructions

I had a similar model to this from 1979 with a dual-action agitator, and the Pre-Wash cycle used high agitation instead of low like this 1976 model. Anyone know what year exactly they changed the speeds, and did that also apply to Pre-Soak? It doesn't give details on the Permanent Press cool...

Versions of Kenmore cool-down sequence at each timer notch. First version (c.1958) - First notch: drain (high speed or low?), fill (no agitation), repeat drain and fill until next notch. Second notch: Pause. Second version (c.1964) - First notch: low speed drain, simultaneous fill and low...

    Kenmore Pernament Press Oddities

By 1976, when Kenmore first unveiled the black paneled washers with the wood grain top, along with the dual-action agitator, they changed their cool down process to this shown on the link. High speed drain for about 45 seconds, pause for the remainder of the timer notch, cold water fill at...

1976-78 Kenmore Model 70 I see how the DELICATE label is in smaller beige font on the 6-minute increment of the KNIT cycle. Must have been the following year when the DELICATE cycle label was modified as the same size as the KNIT label. BTW, when did Kenmores first have rubber knobs?

It was in 1981 when the Normal cycle was renamed Cotton/Sturdy, and the font was more condensed. Would anyone know the name of that font?

This is the exact model I had in the SF Bay Area (Dublin) in the late 70s, which was a coppertone. Before that in Concord, we had a harvest gold portable, possibly the same model number. I believe 1975 was the year the Roto-Rack era ended, and was replaced with the triple rotating spray arms...

    Soak Cycles

Kenmore Soak Selector Hence, the selector switch options read SOAK & WASH or SOAK ONLY. Not all Kenmores with pre-soak had this swtich. I believe it was c.1974 when the Pre-Soak cycle was cropped from 30 to 22 minutes. Originally, the agitation speed was low, and spin speed was high. Those...
