A/C in _The Seven Year Itch_

Followup: No one will ever have to wonder about the air-conditioners in The Seven Year Itch again, because the info is now on IMDb, the Internet Movie Database. I submitted the info to IMDb a couple of weeks ago, and it is now posted in the Trivia section for the film. Sadly, there was no way...

    Nice GE pedestal range

I Think.... That's a '59, and it's a model below the Liberators and Stratoliners, a more basic model. The controls tell me it's a single-oven model; there's only one set of knobs for Oven Set and Oven Temp. There's also no plug for a griddle, and there's no slider control or sensor for...

Avocado Kitchen/Laundry - GE and Kenmore

Mon Dieu! A matched pair of garage-door Lady Ks! That's something you don't see every day....

Mid Century 1960's Turquoise Aqua Sears Landy's Kenmore Dryer Working - $499 (Aurora/ Naperville)

Now.... ....If it were a '66 Lady K washer - or better yet, a pair - in Turquoise, that'd be worth a little bit of money.

Mid Century 1960's Turquoise Aqua Sears Landy's Kenmore Dryer Working - $499 (Aurora/ Naperville)

Let Me Say This About That: While $499 is a goodly price to be asking for a '66 Lady K dryer, there is also the fact that this is a rare Turquoise example. This was the last year for Turquoise. This is definitely a price to haggle over, but that is not a dryer that grows on trees, either.

    Instant Coffee?

Russell Hobbs Kettle: Phil: The Russell Hobbs C-110 was one of those 1980s yuppie must-haves, along with the Cuisinart DLC-7 processor, the Dualit toaster, Henckels knives and KitchenAid K-5A mixers. Like all these other things, the Hobbs kettle was of lifetime quality, if only it was cared...

    Instant Coffee?

Phil: I wonder if you're familiar with the electric kettle pictured below? It's a North American-spec Russell Hobbs C-110B in brushed stainless. These were very popular and plentiful here in the States during the 1980s, and very rare today. I always wanted a C-110, which is the polished...

    Central Vac Systems?

Pros and Cons: My mom's best friend had a central vac system, installed in the "dream house" they built in '66. For the most part, it worked out reasonably well. It was quiet, and odors and dirt stayed in a remote part of the basement. Considering that the family raised several generations...

    I have a rant myself

P.S.: One of the major reasons Power Plus and Mixmaster attachments are not interchangeable is that a Mixmaster uses a separate power take-off unit to operate the attachments, but on a Power Plus, the attachments are fitted to a power take-off point built into the mixer head.

    I have a rant myself

Ron: The Power Plus was a totally unique model in the Sunbeam lineup; all its parts and attachments were specific to it. The only thing you can do with a Power Plus that's in need of parts is to scour eBay and thrifts, etc., to find either the specific part you need, or a parts machine...

PRISTINE 1948 GE Airliner Range: Sparta, WI

Josh: Here are the only two photos I have of an Airliner, aside from movie stills from A Letter to Three Wives, which do not show the range close-up. One is from the auction referenced earlier in this thread, and the other is a 1948 magazine ad featuring Art Linkletter as GE's celebrity...

    Any percolator fans out there?

I Think.... ....The Boots/Sona machine is very heavily American-influenced, but I don't think it's physically based in any American manufacturer's design. It's very handsome. For my money, the best-looking percolator ever was the Russell Hobbs #3008. Its brushed stainless steel, the...

Because Life is TOO short for bad coffee...

Malcolm: Also, any restaurant supply company should have Bunn filters, because Bunns are such a staple in the restaurant biz. Atlanta is full of restaurant supply companies, and virtually all of them will sell to the public.

Vintage GE Americana avocado green oven range combo for sale

Christie: The $600 that eBay seller wanted was worse than way off - it was delusional. A lot of people ask a high price for fear of "giving something away." I'm thinking that $100-$150 would be fair. $75-100 should get it out of the garage pretty quickly. Other members here may want to...

    P&G is at it again

Stefan: Your point about vintage products using banned ingredients is well taken, but that still leaves the question of why Proctor & Gamble goes to such incredible lengths to create over-perfumed stenches that would gag a maggot.

Rainy Day Project...install vintage range hood

Oh, Okay. But - If anyone wants the advantages of a hood when they already have an extractor fan, there's another solution: the shell hood. A shell hood is a hood with no innards like fan, filter, etc. It captures and guides cooking fumes toward an extractor fan. This was what we had with...

Rainy Day Project...install vintage range hood

Don't Understand: Since you already have the Nutone extractor fan, why the Vent-A-Hood? I grew up with a Nutone, and I would love to have another. I particularly miss the ease of cleaning the Nutone vs. the cleaning of a Vent-A-Hood.

Vintage GE Americana avocado green oven range combo for sale

Christie: It's a nice range, and appears to have been well-cared-for. If you can find the right buyer, it ought to make someone pretty happy. You do need to know that there are two potential drawbacks that could interfere with selling it quickly - two-story ranges like this one can't be used...

That Is.... A J 795 - double oven with a lower P*7 self-cleaning oven, an exhaust hood, no Sensi-Temp. This was the MOL conventional Americana in '72; the TOL J 797 was basically the same thing, but with infinite-heat rotary switches replacing the pushbuttons, and Sensi-Temp included. If...

PLAY-DOH In Trouble Over Phalic Extruder

IF.... ....People are so worried that the innocence of children will be corrupted by this extruder, why do I see so many pre-teens dressed so provocatively? Maybe it's easier for their moms to whine publicly about extruders than it is to fight the necessary battles with little Sally to get...
