Machines that you have owned/owns that has gone faulty

I've had 3 in the last decade....none were unfixable When I bought my house in 2002, the owners included the Frigidaire built Kenmore laundry enter. It never broke, but it wasn't what I wanted. Capacity was small, and I don't think it washed that well. The tall machine also blocked the faucet...

    Another obscure laundry model memory

My grandmother's Philco Bendix had one of those lights....that might be another brand. Memories are vague because I was all of three but I remember what she called her "lilac light." I liked it because it had the window in the door and you could watch. The Frigidaire 1-18 dryer she replaced it...

    New Stove Suggestions?

Another no melt situation here.... ...my range is a Kenmore (made by Frigidaire). It has had no problems with any of the plastic melting. My mother has one of the new GE ranges with the retro styling. No, they're not made like the classic GE stuff I grew up with, but I have to admit that the...

Is there any classic machine you dislike or hate?

Sears: Why did EVERYBODY buy a SEARS KENMORE???? So over-rat In my neck of the woods....easy credit (if you were a white male).

Is there any classic machine you dislike or hate?

Norge... ...I never had any problem with turnover in the Norge machines, but I hear ya on the racket they made.  Back in the 80's, we sent one back to Montgomery Ward and replaced it with a BD Kenmore because it was just so stinking LOUD. (That and the fact that a slightly unbalanced load and...

Is there any classic machine you dislike or hate?

Post GM Frigidaire... ....the first WCI Frigidaire washers were dreck in my opinion. I loved GM Frigidaire washers....my cousin's 1-18 was awesome, and my grandmother's Rollermatic was a great machine as well. WCI scrapped a long history of innovatively designed, quality machines, and replaced...

    Bose wave radio

Bose.... ....I've heard the Bose sets and they're fine, but they're awfully expensive for what you get. Recently, I bought my grandmother a Sangean WR-11 table radio. Cost less than $100 and the reception and sound are fantastic. She loves it because it has simple controls and it has great...

    Your favorite dryer way

Air Drying Is My Favorite I bought one of the Antonius drying racks from IKEA a while back, and I love it. It was the best $40 investment I have made. It has 47 yards of of line space on one rack. I hang all my towels and socks and unders on that, along with t-shirts, lounge pants, etc. Loaded...

    Hotpoint top load dishwasher

Very nice scans!    I always liked the top loading design....they were so much easier to place in a small kitchen vs. the front load models. You didn't have to worry about space for the door to open. We had an old Kitchenaid top loader when I was a small child, and my aunt had a Lady Kenmore...

    Western Auto stores

Western Auto Stores They were very common in the 1970's through the early 80's in southern Oregon. I think the last one to close was the Myrtle Creek store in the early 90s. By then they had Magic Chef appliances. I think it's a True Value now.

    Ajax Dishwasher Packs

I'll have to give those a try.... ....I usually use the Finish Powerball All in One tabs and they're good, but that price is very attractive. If they're as good as the Ajax hand dishwashing liquid, I will be very pleased.

Rare Kenmore BD Pair in Atlanta

Well...that's actually a good deal... ....the DD washers are easy enough to fix and those were good dryers. Back in 1981 my grandmother paired one of the large dryers with the belt drive standard capacity washers. She loved that combination because the extra space allowed for quick drying and...

    TAP COLD 98 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT

Even in mid summer..... ...my mixing valve adds warm water to temperature controlled cold washes. Tap cold is essentially useless with Bull Run water no matter what time of the year.

    countertop dishwashers etc

I can understand your perspective... I considered a countertop dishwasher on a few occasions myself, and was appalled at the prices of some of them. $900??! It better be a solid company with a very LONG and comprehensive warranty....especially when I can get a portable that does an adequate job...

Which? strips laundry liquids and gels of best buy status.

"The only thing "Which?" is good at... ...is stating the obvious and selling it as if it were a new discover." That sounds a lot like Consumer Reports in recent years here in the USA. It seems like the days of rigorous testing and detailed reporting are over and not just in the US.

    any experiences with Amway's SA8?

They're good enough products.... ...but I don't buy them because they're overpriced and I don't want to indirectly contribute to some of Rich DeVos's causes.
