    Who says compuerization is progress?

Rich and Keven No, Rich, they were absolutely not dismissive but thought first I'd lived once in America for a while because of my accent...lol The strangest thing happened to me was the year after that holiday/exchange-time in Mexico, when I came back from a back-packer trip throughout Europe...

    Who says compuerization is progress?

...and concerning the "church(es)" I can only really, really recommend the book "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. It's absolutely fascinating! READ IT!! Ralf

    Who says compuerization is progress?

Same to me! I learnt Spanish during six weeks in Mexico, visiting pen-pals in Mexico-City in 1980. When I went to Spain for two years for job reasons in 1999-2000, I had big problems to understand the Castillian tongue, especially the one in Andalusia, where I lived. Mexican Spanish (and...

    Soap Making

Soap Making Hi to all of you! Well...I used to make my own soap for years and therefor have about five or six books, most of them from the States, as there are not many good books available here in Germany anymore on the market nowadays! But stopped that because of our small place here, but...

    Lee Maxwell's Wringer Museum Video

Lee Maxwell ...to me is the KING of WASHING-MACHINES! I've been to that site quite often - it's like a fairy-tale from washer-land...the heaven of laudry! He could be my ideal but I'm miles behind him... I hope I shall find my way to him one day...! Ralf

    Soap Making

bar soap and soda Except in the dishwasher, of course, I use also only soda and, for fatty items, added grated bar-soap for washing up items that cannot go into the dishwasher for any reason! I don't like dishwashing-liquid at all! Ralf

    Suds in the rinse water...

panthera & tomturbomatic Keven, it's not grease, it's a surfactant - usually a quarterny ammonia compound. But we normally do not use conditioner either - I do not like that chemical stuff on freshly laundered items! You are right to me about the possiblility to get residues out of garments by...

    Suds in the rinse water...

Hi state-line OK, here's the answer! The thing is actually, that only thinning a solution can "rinse" it out. Will say that rinsing isn't anything but an endless thinning of a solution, in this case detergent (= tensides/surfactants) in water called wash-water or suds. Now we have different...

    Big news from Germany

Correction Well, ok, that is really not nice from MIELE, not to sell the big machines here in Germany.....but I do not care - if a MIELE than only an old wringer-washer anyway...lol! The 3/4 filling of the drum should be a 5,5 kg load! It means just that the drum, when laundry is pressed...

    Big news from Germany

Miele Well, that is a normal German Miele washing-machine, just adjusted to the US standards (hot & cold water inlet / 110-120 V / 60 Hz). These machines cost here in Germany about 1,500.- € wich is almost 2,000.- $, so nothing unusual! But Miele offers big machines too! I've seen them in N.Y...
