DO YOUR PARENTS THINK YOU'RE NUTS BUYING THIS OLD STUFF?

The attitude here was/is, if it works, don't replace it. The 1961 gas water heater was replaced in 1989 though, because it was old. It still worked. TWO subsequent gas water heaters leaked all over creation within ten years, apiece. The fourth one still works, knock on wood. I believe the...

Guess what I found at Big Lots

Yay! Pete got the Bosco jingle down pat! I went to a Publix Supermarket yesterday, before I bought my Maxwell House Instant and ten cans of Friskies, I checked for Bosco, and Biscoff. Bingo, both!! Bosco is still described on the label as a milk amplifier, Biscoff is a spread made up of ground...

Don't kid yourselves, she has a drawer full of marital appliances next to her empty bed. Chances are her husband went out for a pack of cigarettes five years ago, and never went back.

    my NIB 1956 Westinghouse vacuum!

Not an episode, a Desilu/Westinghouse promo Not trying to take the shine off that new 1956 vacuum. That was the colorized version of the Westinghouse promotion on Lucy's Lost Episodes DVD. It was a bunch of TV appearances and has Desi Arnaz giving a Westinghouse salesman a tour of Desilu Studios.

A former Burger Chef that's back in business serving . . . burgers!

Our Burger Chef near the corner of Virginia Avenue, on the southeast side of the highway turned straight into a car wash. The side walls of the building are still there, and maybe an arch or two. I liked the place.

Studebaker subsidiary helped making history today, 59 years ago

Mr. and Mrs. Hamby ran a nursery on US1, about 3 miles from here. They had a black Studebaker sedan with suicide doors, and bright red leather seats. It was about a 1949 car. They've been gone for years, and their house was torn down within the past two months.

Meet the Wards Airline Stereo-Danish Modern

My first picture is a W.T. Grant's "Bradford" ca The second one I knew is Magnavox, I just threw that on. The seller claimed it was a solid teak cabinet. I am a "self described Magnavox expert". Strictly in my own mind. I've been following their products for 45 years. As far as I know, Magnavox...

Meet the Wards Airline Stereo-Danish Modern

I'm never going to pretend that anything in a console is worth having, even I have my limits. Interesting input here.

Meet the Wards Airline Stereo-Danish Modern

I do know, transistors are garbage, tubes rule I don't know about the specific stereo on ebay, but believe it or not, Magnavox made Airline consoles for a couple of years. My idea is, if whatever it is you have works to it's original capacity and output, enjoy it. I own four tube consoles and...

    Unique Yellow Kitchen

Marina City has always fascinated me. I'm amazed anything from it's completion still exists. I saw a gak job someone did on one of the apartments on HGTV once. I always thought apartment living would be neat, especially in anything that high. I lived in a second floor apartment near the beach...

    Move Over, Mustang!

I saw the most gorgeous mint condition metallic turquoise Camaro, with matching interior, and a 6 cylinder engine, about 15 years ago. Naturally, it was suggested you slap a big ol' V8 in it as fast as you can. I think it does still exist here, with a V8 slapped into it. Sorry, I don't believe...

$90 for 60s Hotpoint Fridge (and more!) in AZ

Okay, that brown thing to the right of the ladder in the freezer door pic must be a heating system, the carpeting is several inches away from the left side and the front of it.

$90 for 60s Hotpoint Fridge (and more!) in AZ

How much for the young dude on the ladder? Also, the thing in the living area, to the right of the Hotpoint freezer door, hi-fi, or 1950's heating system? Love the fridge and the coppertone range.

Washer in "Middle of the Night"

They're two different apartments. The Bendix, or whatever is in the Kim Novak character's mother's apartment, the Fairfax is in a $250 1959 money apartment, used by the sister of the renter.

    Black Cabinet Vintage Magnavox Imperial

Frank Freimann President of Magnavox until his death in 1968, was a great lover of Asian art and decor, that's why he had the Far Eastern Contemporary and Danish cabinets available in black lacquer, and/or walnut. The only black unit I recall seeing outside of a brochure was the budget radio...

Danish Modern "Eames Era" General Electric stereo

There were two Danish G E consoles in one of our thrift stores about 15 years ago. They had to have been cheap, but they both reeked of mildew, and had a film on each one. I had no space anyway for either. The last really impressive G E I found had a reel to reel in it, and supposedly all...
