It's not religion but my own personal relationship. I'll leave that to another forum.

need to replace a washer for elderly parents

I would recommend the Amana NTW4516 top load washer. You could get it at Best Buy or the Roper from Lowes. Same machine basically. They have the white porcelain wash baskets and true 2 piece dual action agitator. I have been using mine now for 3 months and it is just a plain good machine ...

Need a new washing machine and need your help.

Same here ea56. The Amana version is the same machine. I mostly use normal also and can get straight hot water just by turning off the cold faucet but it will also give a hot rinse if I forget to put the cold on right after the agitation starts. I was in Best Buy earlier today and saw my...

Need a new washing machine and need your help.

If you want a cheap but decent top loader you could also look at the Amana NTW4516. I have had this washer now a few months and it has been performing admirably. Basically the same as the Maytag MVWP575 mentioned on this thread but has auto water level and full fill options and a compete range...

LG is finally making "agitator" top loaders!

It will definitely be interesting to see the first videos of how this be agitator washes. It's about time we saw some ramp agitators used with the DD design.

    poppy red range

Those old Frigidaire ranges always looked substantial to my eyes. Were Frigidaire ranges better performance wise than GE back when Frigidaire was GM ?

    GE “Fresh Vent” Front Loaders

How long will that microban last though ? Mark if I may. There is nothing wrong with the current Whirlpool front load washers unless there is some recall but I know that would have been posted here. Some people get lemons and that happens in all makes. Just how life is. My first front loader...

My mother's 1963 Kenmore 60 had the black bakelite straight vane. Was her first automatic washer. I remember that machine although a little fuzzy now because I was young when we got rid of it on about 1973 or 74. Don't remember what happened to it as I was only about 6 at the time but I do...

    CAN You Believe This Interior?

Different yes,....but practical ? I can hear Hyacinth Bucket now reminding folks not to brush up against her walls. Lol.

    X#%*&$# Squirrels!

I love the squirrels too but they can be very destructive if they get into your home. When I was younger we had squirrels get up into our attic and they were chewing the wood up. My parents had to call the ASPCA to have them removed. I still like to watch them run around play with each other...

    POD 8-10-2020

Good info. Would love to see the first large capacity Kenmore that had the control panel similar to the 1963 60 series model. Had a friend in the late 70s whose family had that Kenmore with the large three vane bakelite agitator. Never saw one again after that.Is there a picture of that large...

    POD 8-10-2020

Kind of what I thought. Haven't seen a standard capacity BD washer in person in quite awhile. They made up for those small tubs and went the other extreme when the first Jumbo tub BD machines hit the market in the late 60s.

One thing about the standard tub WP/KM machines is that they have wide tubs. Maybe that offset the slower spinning but that is probably why they had those high BTU dryers. Funny how those 50s Kenmore dryers could be used as room heaters also. Nice for a damp and cold basement

    whirlpool direct drive fans

One thing I liked about the 2 direct drives I had..or really all of them is how efficient the agitators are with roll over. They don't really make any sloshing noises or rock the water like the older belt drives but they are fun nonetheless. I thought the turnover was reminiscent of the old...

    POD 8-10-2020

Style wise these were some of the best looking Whirlpool machines ever produced imo. To anyone: I know Whirlpool had some firsts but was WP/KM the first with a 2 speed motor or did GE beat them to it ?
