I won these on ebay but due to circumstanses beyond my control I can not pick them up.They're in a town close to Wildwood,FL.Anybody here interested, please email me.I am sending the payment today to the seller. They're in a barn and he needs them out by the end of next week.I was going to have our trucking company pick them up but they need to be packaged to do that and the seller refused to even after I offered him extra money to do it.So Email me at ([email protected])or call me @ (832)457-5594 if you want them. You'll need to pick them up.I rather see them go to a good home than be scrapped. Thanks!

Those sound like nice machines, and in turquoise! When I was a kid, there was a neighbor family with 8 kids ranging from high school age to infancy, and they had a turquoise stacking pair doing all of their laundry. A little newer, though, like early 60's. I used to love watching the washer in action since at home we had a windowless top loader.

The Spacemates by Westinghouse were introduced in 1954 and there were two models available. They also made one that was portable! What I thought was interesting was the larger Laundromats would tumble and spin clockwise. However, because of the pump direction and the way there solinoids worked by pulling the spindle up to the pully to make it drain, the smaller stackables and the portable model would go counter clockwise. Why? Because the motor was set up facing the oposite way so it was turning the drum and pump the oposite way.

the seller didn't specify.just that they were in the barn.the easher's body has some rust on the front but as far as the mechanical condition is concerned,he has no clue nor does he realy seam to care.I got them for only $65.I could have our trucking company pick it up but they need to be crated and even though I offered to send the money to have the seller do it,he flatly refused.I tried to comunicate wit gthem prior to the closing of the auction.but got no response untill days after my inquiry.

This guy sounds like an idiot, but I guess it takes all kinds! Let me see if I can get them, Carl. Wildwood is not too far from me. Do you have a picture of them or the link to the expired listing on ebay?

Have a look at thread # 15447

That has a link to a washer/dryer set that may be this one.

I wish I lived closer to Florida.. OY!
