1956 Kelvinator POD 9/4/11

Kelvinator!

I like this style the most. It looks like a dashboard in a car. It is amazing we had better technology so many years back as compared to now.

While these were mechanically relatively simple machines, they were far from trouble-free. John's family had this style of washer and it needed repairs during its period of service. Electrical components, like the timer were not durable. The rubber fins on the agitator took buttons off clothes. The later agitator without the big fins was an improvement.

Gearless transmission

Can anyone explain a gearless Kelvinator transmission?

It's not a tranny. It's a big pulley running off a belt from the motor.
