Matt, these sales can be thought of as depressing. I have purchased crocheted pieces simply because I know the work and dedication that went into them and did not want to see them boxed up for the thrift store or worse. On the other hand, you can also think of these sales as a grand oppotunity for someone else to find and enjoy things that the original owner liked or, in the case of stuff put away and never used, as things they saved that are now being passed on to another generation who really want them and have the chance to acquire them.
It might just be a sale, but if several people show interest in an item, the seller might decide to take bids.
