Painting appliances
You guys are correct about painting porcelain. It is not as easy as one might think. I have done it a couple times, however all the porcelain has to be media blasted off first.(not cheap to have done either) I would never do it to a set that was in good condition, because paint is NOT as tough as porcelain. However with the green Kenmore pictured, and the turquoise Rollermatics, the porcelain was shot. Battery acid ruined the top of the Kenmore, and hard use and rust had ruined the lower cabinet on the Rollermatic. I have not had any problems with the paint on either of these machines, however I am very careful with all my machines anyway. That being said, had the porcelain been in good condition, these machines would have not had colour changes.
I would rather have a nice set in the original white porcelain, then paint in any colour. However, when you have a lemon anyway, you may as well make your lemonaid in your favourite flavour.
Anyone know who got the charcoal set yet???
